Davey Richards Shoot
While I have not seen this shoot, I have read a whole bunch of reviews online a few very lengthy quotes from it, and the conclusion that I have come to is that Davey Richards does not understand pro wrestling at all. He just seems to completely miss the part where wrestling is a work. He doesn't seem to get gimmicks, or that you need a big gimmick match to blow off a hot feud, or that the fact that he could legitimately beat someone with his MMA skills is irrelevant. He also seems to not give a damn about the fans at all.
He also makes some statements which I have a very hard time believing to be true. He says that Gabe kicked him off of DGUSA and Evolve because Davey was going to be wrestling for ROH and that Gabe told him that the whole purpose of DGUSA and Evolve was to put ROH out of business. No matter how spiteful and bitter you might think Gabe is, I don't think that anyone in the world thinks that Gabe Sapolsky is stupid to tell an ROH contracted wrestler who has been working with the guys in the ROH locker room for four years that he created a company with the explicit goal of putting ROH out of business. Davey claims that Gabe told him that if he was going to wrestle for ROH there was no point in him also wrestling for Evolve and DGUSA because that wouldn't help put ROH out of business. If this were true, why did Gabe book guys like Hero and Claudio on early Evolve shows, even after the whole Davey debacle?
Furthermore, no matter how bitter he is, I just cannot buy that Gabe Sapolsky, a lifelong wrestling fan, would create a wrestling company just to put ROH out of business. Gabe has a lot more respect for wrestling than that.
Anyway, from what I have read and from the clips that I have seen, Davey Richards comes off as a jackass here. Between this and Iowa thing, I am hoping that Davey just retires.

this one doesn't seem too bad; I agree with a few of the things he says here:

Re: Davey Richards Shoot
It's weird, he kinda thinks that pro wrestling should be like MMA, but when asked about going to MMA, he tends to say "no, i'm a professional wrestler"

I agree with him about the Wolves being great, about breaking them up the way they did being a mistake, and about Cornette being outdated, but go search for reviews of this online and other quotes from it. He comes off as a jackass and seems to completely not understand that the Steen thing is an angle.badnewzxl wrote:this one doesn't seem too bad; I agree with a few of the things he says here:

I'm not davey's biggest fan right now, but don't completely go by reviews and quotes. Davey has been made the devil in this last weeks, a lot of people will take things out of context to make them look bad. Even then trailer of the shoot was cut to make him look like a prick. I'd say let's hook up the shoot and judge by the whole thing.Big Red Machine wrote:

The thing is, I have heard that the run-time is only eighty minutes which is pretty short for something like this, so it's not worth the whole fifteen dollars to me. If someone has a copy of it, I will watch it., but I'm not going to pay too much for it.cero2k wrote:I'm not davey's biggest fan right now, but don't completely go by reviews and quotes. maybe there's some legit heat between he and Steen; def won't be the first time a work became a shoot....Big Red Machine wrote:I agree with him about the Wolves being great, about breaking them up the way they did being a mistake, and about Cornette being outdated, but go search for reviews of this online and other quotes from it. i've heard a lot of people don't like Steen because of his physic, it kinda burns them that he is talented and gets so much yet he doesn't work out to be all pumped upbadnewzxl wrote:maybe there's some legit heat between he and Steen; def won't be the first time a work became a shoot....Big Red Machine wrote:

Re: Davey Richards Shoot
i just finished watching this. It's 1:21 hrs.
personally, like i said, he is just made look like the devil. he is definitely really high on himself, and i kinda took that he believes that pro wrestling should be what MMA is in terms on who is on top. a lot of great stories here. he does shoot on cornette, on gabe, on steen, but doesn't necessarily bury them like it has been suggested. worth watching if you're a fan of davey or the american wolves

I'm curious as to what he said exactly about Steen? I've heard that Steen is a sarcastic jackass outside of the ring.
