BRM Reviews the 7/27/2012 Smackdown (GREAT!)

WWE INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE MATCH: The Miz(c) vs. Christian-6.5/10
Great opener. I was surprised that WWE gave them ten minutes, but hey… I’m not going to complain. Good pre-match promo by Miz, too.

JINDER MAHAL vs. RYBACK- 2.75/10
I would have given it a three if they hadn’t done a count-out finish. Is there any reason to not have Ryback get a pinfall here?

DRAGON & SHEAMUS BACKSTAGE- I really hate it when babyfaces are giant jerks for no reason, and I hate it when a promotion feels the need to kick a heel when he’s down (Dragon at Raw 1000, the “Eric Bischoff Goodbye Party”), so I really hated this segment. The only good thing in here was Dragon saying that Sheamus’ present had a “horrible wrapping job.”

SHEAMUS vs. CODY RHODES- 6.75/10

ZIGGLER TEASES CASHING IN- BAD!
WWE really needs to stop it with these teases! The MITB contract is best used by making us forget about it. Everyone in WWE management knows that Ziggler won. He doesn’t need to lug that big, goofy briefcase around with him everywhere he goes. Let us forget about it for a while, then, when we see Dolph running out to the ring with a referee in tow, we will actually be surprised, rather than saying “oh. Okay. They are finally doing this now.”

JERICHO STUFF- Great. Got to love Jericho with the Ziggler shirt and hair.

FROM THE VAULT- Want to know what a MUCH better use of this fifteen minutes would have been? Having a live match with people who are actually on the roster!

SANTINO MARELLA vs. ANTONIO CESARO (w/Aksana)- 3.75/10
Short... but F*CK YES! A win for Claudio and a loss for Santino!

DAMIEN SANDOW vs. YOSHI TATSU- good squash. Sandow is PISSED!

WINNER BECOMES #1 CONTENDER TO THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE: Rey Mysterio vs. Kane vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Alberto Del Rio (w/Ricardo Rodriguez)- 7/10
Great nearfalls at the end, but the wrong guy won. Kane should have won this match and here is why: They seemed to be setting up for Dragon vs. Charlie Sheen (YUCK!) so Dragon winning would likely mean some sort of crappy finish at the PPV with Sheen getting involved, and Rey and Del Rio are feuding with each other. Not only is Kane the only guy left, but they can build Kane up as being much different than the other guys Sheamus has faced because, for the first time in his title reign, Sheamus will be smaller than the challenger.

Overall, a GREAT episode of Smackdown… and that was with them wasting fifteen minutes on an old D-X match for no reason.

somehow, I didn't see the Vault match. What was it?

I LOVED Cesaro getting the win. Plus, it was a great match considering the level Cesaro is at according to the WWE Universe.

I thought the Ryback match was better than 3; Mahal got great crowd reaction on a few of his offensive moves. hopefully, this'll lead to Ryback's first sort of mini feud. Mahal's not bad either; I think he'd have a lot more heat if WWE had built him on a program with a babyface other than Khali.

this should get Cesaro a title shot, and hopefully the US title will become a 'very' european title.

Jinder has beer quite good in NXT lately
