ROH Tag Team Titles Tournament

Post by cero2k » Jul 11th, '12, 10:20

The tag team titles have been vacated in ROH. As a result ROH officials have determined that there will be an 8 Team Tag Tournament beginning on August 3rd in Baltimore at The Du Burns Arena with the entire opening round of matches being featured at the “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV Tapings.

ROH officials have also determined that the tournaments semi-finals and finals will take place at a later date. With that being said, ROHWrestling.com was also informed that the first team entered into the field will be:

The 7-Time Former ROH World Tag Team Champions Jay & Mark Briscoe!!

ROH officials have now determined the second team to join the field and it will be:

Matt & Nick Jackson, The Young Bucks!!!

The brothers from California have challenged for the World Tag Titles on numerous occasions in the past, with the last time being when they challenged the Briscoes at the 10th Anniversary. Now Matt & Nick have a chance once more but in order to get there they will have to beat three other teams in the process.

Will the Young Bucks control both the ROH tag titles and the Campeonatos en Pareja at the same time?

TMDK definitely won't be involved. They haven't been used since, and they weren't impressive at the PPV. I think it will likely be some OVW team like Paradyse & whoever his partner was.

they could also ask Chikara for a team, or give Titus a new tag partner

As announced earlier this week the Ring of Honor World Tag Team Titles were stripped from ANX and the vacancy will be filled via an 8-Team tournament to be held over a series of upcoming ROH events beginning on August 3rd at The Du Burns Arena in Baltimore as part of the next round of “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV Tapings. The first two teams have been announced and they are the 7-Time former World Tag Champions Jay & Mark Briscoe and The Young Bucks of Matt & Nick Jackson. Well now ROH officials have reached an agreement with some outside competitors to join the field and they are one man who is familiar to long-time ROH fans and another who has never seen action in our ring:

Representing BLK OUT: Ruckus & Jeez!

Ruckus saw plenty of ROH action several years ago as a member of The Vulture Squad with Jack Evans, Jigsaw, & Julius Smokes, challenged for the ROH World Tag Titles on several occasions, and even challenged then-World Champion Nigel McGuinness for the title. Jeez, on the other hand, has never stepped foot into Ring of Honor but has been competing around the world for years against top competition. As a duo, these two men have also been decorated Tag Team Champions elsewhere so it will be interesting to see how they stack up in one of the most competitive tag team divisions in all of pro wrestling.

The first round kicks off on August 3rd in Baltimore and your tickets are waiting for you right here! Make sure you keep checking back with ROHWrestling.com as the other 5 teams in the tournament are set...

I;m sure they won't put the belts on BLK OUT. They'll probably advance a round, then lose.

On August 3rd in Baltimore, as part of the next “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV tapings, the first round of the tournament to crown new ROH World Tag Team Champions begins. Already announced for the tourney are The Briscoes, The Young Bucks, and BLKOUT and now joining the 8-team field:

The Guardians Of Truth

Truth Martini has entered his masked duo into the tournament, looking to bring the ROH World Tag Titles into the HoT for the first time. Make sure you're there when history is made & the tourney to crown new tag team champions begins on 8/3 in The Du Burns Arena in Baltimore!

Coleman & Alexander put their names in the hat...
Image
Jay & Mark Briscoe...
The Young Bucks...
BLKOUT...
The Guardians of Truth...

Those are the four teams entered so far into the field of 8 who will be battling it out to crown new ROH World Tag Team Champions. The first round of the tournament starts on August 3rd when Ring of Honor returns to Baltimore for the next set of “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV Tapings and will continue with the semi-finals & finals on September 15th when ROH goes live on iPPV with “Death Before Dishonor X” from Chicago Ridge, IL.

ROH officials have now signed on the next team that will compete to be crowned champion and they are...

Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander

This duo has been making waves for the last year in ROH since their debut as a unit at “Tag Team Turmoil 2011” just over a year ago. They have scored wins over both The Briscoes and WGTT, and in fact are still owed a Tag Team Title match as a result of winning a Proving Ground match several months ago. If fate is on their side, C&C may not even need that shot as they could very well be the next ROH World Tag Team Champions!

Lancelot & Harlem look to win the gold...
Image
The beginning of the ROH World Tag Team Title Tournament is just around the corner, starting when ROH returns to Baltimore on August 3rd for the next round of “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV Tapings and wrapping up at “Death Before Dishonor X” in Chicago Ridge on September 15th.

So far 5 teams have been announced; The Briscoes, The Young Bucks, BLKOUT, The Guardians of Truth, and Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander. Now one more team has signed on to join the field of 8 teams looking to be crowned the new World Tag Team Champions:

Lancelot & Harlem Bravado!

The brothers from North Carolina have only made a few appearances in ROH since their return from a three month excursion with Pro Wrestling NOAH earlier this year, but in each of those matches they have impressed officials & fans alike with a renewed vigor, a vastly expanded repertoire of maneuvers, and a hunger unlike any they had prior to their imposed sabbatical. They had a taste of championship opportunity at “The Battle of Richmond” against WGTT in an impromptu match, but that came to an abrupt end when Charlie Haas intentionally got his team disqualified. Now the boys from Draper look to run the field like their favorite college basketball team is known to do and become champions for the very first time.

Who will be his partner???
Image
The Ring of Honor World Tag Team Title Tournament begins THIS Friday night when we return to Baltimore for another set of TV Tapings. So far the following 6 teams have been announced:

Team #1: Jay & Mark The Briscoes
Team #2: Nick & Matt Jackson, The Young Bucks
Team #3: Ruckus & Jeez, The BLK OUT
Team #4: The Guardians of Truth w/ Truth Martini
Team #5: Caprice Coleman & Cedric Alexander
Team #6: The Bravados, Lancelot & Harlem

Now team #7 joins the field...well to be more accurate, ½ of the seventh team because it is the former champion, the man who was stripped of the title, Rhett Titus, who will represent the next duo. The one question is obviously who will be his partner? Will it be one of his own choosing? Will ROH officials assign a new partner to Titus? All we can tell you at this point is that the ROH faithful will find out on Friday night at The Du Burns Arena!

Any speculation who could it be??

ROH released a promo from the Briscoes previewing the ROH Tag Title tournament, which begins Friday night in Baltimore at the latest TV tapings. In the video, Jay Briscoe tosses out a disc with the name of each tag team in the tournament, and Mark Briscoe shoots down the disc with a gun. Hence, ROH titled the video "The Briscoes Shoot About ROH World Tag Team Title Tournament."
