BRM Reviews the 7/12/2012 Impact

They had a lot of good stuff hyped up for this week, so, for the first time in a long time, I was actually very excited for Impact. The problem with TNA, though, is that they have let me down so many times in the past. So… on to the show.

NO DQ’S MATCH: Bully Ray vs. Joseph Park- no rating. AWESOME SEGMENT!
I think this is intended to be our first hint that Joseph Park is an alter-ego of Abyss, rather than his brother. Bully Ray’s backstage reaction promo was great, too.

BOUND FOR GLORY SERIES MATCH: Samoa Joe vs. Rob Van Dam- 5.5/10
I like what they are doing with Joe.

DANIELS, KAZ, & CLAIRE- G-d help me… I actually thought that this was pretty well done.

ZEMA ION VIDEO PACKAGE- AWESOME!

DAKOTA DARSOW PROMO- great, but they needed a name graphic for him because I had no idea who he was when he was talking. I thought he was Tony Nese.

ZEMA ION vs. DAKOTA DARSOW- 4.25/10
Good aftermath, and an awesome little promo by Ion.

AUSTIN ARIES PROMO & SEGMENT WITH BOBBY ROODE- I really didn’t like this segment. Aries came off as ridiculously egotistical, and Roode bordered on comical, which wasn’t what this called for.

STING, HOGAN, DEVON, & GARRETT- bad. Devon says that he and Garrett have Hogan and Sting’s back? Then why didn’t he help Sting when Sting being jumped by these guys in the ring last month?

MADISON RAYNE VIDEO PACKAGE- okay

TNA KNOCKOUTS’ TITLE MATCH: Miss Tessmacher(c) vs. Gail Kim- 4.5/10
CATTLE MUTILATION! I assume that Gail learned that move from her ex-boyfriend. It’s also nice to see Tessmacher get a real finisher.

CLAIRE PROMO- yeah, this didn’t feel like it made much sense. I am hating this again.

MAGNUS PROMO- good

BOUND FOR GLORY SERIES MATCH: Mr. Anderson vs. Kurt Angle- 7.25/10
Great nearfalls.

HULK HOGAN AND BOBBY ROODE BACKSTAGE- very good

CLOSING SEGMENT- decent concept, but very poor execution. Does this company have no ringside security at all? And where the hell were Garrett and Devon, who had told Sting and Hogan “we have your back?”

Anyway, overall, this was a great episode of Impact. TNA did not disappoint.
