BRM Reviews the 6/1/2012 Smackdown

OPENING SEGMENT- eh.

SIN CARA vs. HEATH SLATER- decent squash
Sin Cara is still using that ridiculously weak finisher.

DAMIEN SANDOW vs. EZEKIEL JACKSON- good squash, although I would prefer it if Sandow used more than the same five moves every week.

ZIGGLER & DEL RIO BACKSTAGE- good

RYBACK MATCH- snore. Give us something new already.
And who let these jobbers talk? They were atrocious.

SHEAMUS vs. DOLPH ZIGGLER (w/Vickie Guerrero & Jack Swagger)- 6.75/10

CM PUNK PROMO- okay

TITUS O'NEIL & DARREN YOUNG vs. CO-BRO (Santino Marella & Zack Ryder)- DUD!
What purpose does it serve to have the comedy jobbers beat the up-and-coming tag team? Just as a pretense to have Santino & Ryder out there for Show to jump them? Why not have Show attack them mid-match? It serves the same purpose and protects O'Neil & Young.

BIG SHOW DESTROYS SANTINO & RYDER- So far this year, Ryder has recovered from a broken neck and a broken back. I'm sure he'll be fine in twenty minutes. The punch to Santino looked pretty sick, though.

DRAGON & AJ SEGMENT- not good. The more WWE mishandles this the more it makes me want to fantasy book it.

CODY RHODES vs. TYSON KIDD- pointless squash.
There are WAY too many of these super-short matches on Smackdown nowadays. The Cody-Christian interaction could have been handled in a backstage segment.

WWE TITLE MATCH: CM Punk(c) vs. Kane- 7.5/10
Good storytelling, and great booking on the finish and the aftermath.

Overall, a good episode of Smackdown.

Wow. Where's Cesaro?

I can't see Smackdown lately but I demand more Cesaro.

no, remember his finisher was that flippy thing from the top rope, the one Burchill used to do. This was La Mistica, but WWE needs to understand that this has to be a submission move, not just a takedown in order to look vicious

Why are you assuming that it is WWE's fault?

i'm guessing it's either WWE's or Sin Cara's. I don't really see why Sin Cara would care whether it was a submission or a pinfall. WWE however, i'm guessing they want their luchadors to be high flying and big impacts and not submission guys. I could be wrong
