BRM Reviews the 4/16/2012 Raw

Post by Big Red Machine » Apr 18th, '12, 00:12

NO COUNT-OUTS, NO DISQUALIFICATIONS MATCH FOR THE WWE TITLE: CM Punk(c) vs. Mark Henry- 7.5/10
Great stuff from these two once again. Outstanding psychology here. I want to see these two face off more in the future.

CHRIS JERICHO & CM PUNK SEGMENT- good

TEDDY LONG & R-TRUTH- dumb

WWE UNTIED STATES TITLE MATCH: Santino Marella(c) vs. David Otunga- 3.75/10
Very short, but it had some decent stuff in it.

LORD TENSAI PROMO- I liked it.

BROCK LESNAR VIDEO PROMO- great

KANE vs. ZACK RYDER- unnecessary squash

KANE PROMO- good

DRAGON, AJ, & KOFI- decent.

JOHN CENA PROMO- decent. The words were strong, but John really seems to be reading into things a lot here. As for why Johnny Ace didn’t fire Cena… if VINCE lost his tried when he tried to fire Cena, then what hope would Johnny Ace have of keeping his?

DANIEL BRYAN vs. KOFI KINGSTON- 6/10

BRODUS CLAY vs. DOLPH ZIGGLER (w/Jack Swagger & Vickie Guerrero)- no rating. Fun segment. I always thought that Raquel Diaz’s laugh was over the top, but after hearing Vickie laugh this week, I can see where she got it from.

THE BIG SHOW & THE GREAT KHALI vs. EPICO & PRIMO (w/Rosa Mendes)- DUD!
Why, exactly, are we jobbing out the Tag Team Champions like this?

EXTREME RULES MATCH: John Cena vs. Lord Tensai (w/Sakamoto)- 6.5/10
Not good enough for a main event, but certainly not bad, either. Albert using the mist was cool.

Overall, a pretty good episode of Raw.

I picked a freaking good one to be in attendance for :D

Surprisingly, the view was absolutely perfect. And everything's a lot closer/smaller than it looks on tv

I, too, have fallen in love with balcony seating. Unless you are in the first five rows, the ground level can totally suck, depending upon both your height and the height of those in front of you. The balcony gives you a clear view of almost everything.

my problem with Cena's promo was that he put Brock Lesnar over (as if he needs it) and Cena even admitted he'd prolly lose to Brock. WHY CENA? Why come out and talk about how bad ass Brock is, when Brock just BURIED you in his promo, lol? AT LEAST, get on him about not making the Minnesota Vikings (which is what Brock actually left WWE for; not UFC. He went and won the IWGP title once or twice before he even entered MMA; surprised they didn't mention any of that)....

One more thing: I'd really LOVE it if Brock brought up the fact that no one really took Cena seriously until he began calling out Lesnar (like Y2J did with Goldberg). It was Cena's match against Lesnar for the WWE Title that catapulted Cena's career from the spot that Zach Ryder is in now, to a potential star of the company.

Lesnar got Cena over as a main eventer....
