BRM Reviews WWE TLC 2011

Post by Big Red Machine » Dec 19th, '11, 08:56

WWE TLC 2011 (12/18/2011)- Baltimore, MD

WWE UNITED STATES TITLE MATCH: Dolph Ziggler(c) (w/Vickie Guerrero) vs. Zack Ryder- 5.75/10 FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!

WWE TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: Air Boom(c) vs. Primo & Epico (w/Rosa Mendes)- 5.75/10. Primo & Epico were very impressive. I’d like to see them with the belts.

HORNSWOGGLE & TEDDY LONG SEGMENT- amusing, but it should have been done on Smackdown, not wasting time on a PPV.

TABLES MATCH: Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett- 6.5/10

THE BELLAS & TEDDY LONG BACKSTAGE- Moronic. Why are grown women arguing about who is Santa’s favorite?

SHEAMUS, SWAGGER & TEDDY LONG- should have been on Smackdown. What is it with all of these unannounced matches. If you are going to have the match ANNOUNCE IT IN ADVANCE so that it can help you sell the show!

WWE DIVAS TITLE MATCH: Beth Phoenix(c) vs. Kelly Kelly- 4.75/10

MIZ & DEL RIO BACKSTAGE- eh.

SLEDGEHAMMER ON A POLE MATCH: Triple H vs. Kevin Nash- 7.25/10. Would have been a bit higher, but it felt like Nash was getting up a bit too quickly for the spots he took.

CM PUNK PROMO & SEGMENT WITH JOHNNY ACE- good.

SHEAMUS vs. JACK SWAGGER (w/Vickie Guerrero)- 5/10

BIG SHOW PROMO- good

CHAIRS MATCH FOR THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE: Mark Henry(c) vs. The Big Show- 3/10. THAT QUICK? BOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Show shouldn’t even have won the title (Sheamus should have won it)… but this doesn’t help anyone aside from maybe Swagger (based off of the segment on Friday’s Smackdown)…

Oh. I guess it helps him, too.

DRAGON WINS THE TITLE- I don’t like it. I was really looking forward to a good, honest cash-in match, and Dragon taking advantage of a guy who has been his friend recently really doesn’t sit well with me, so hopefully they have him turn heel over this a feud with Big Show.

BOOKER T PROMO- GREAT!

WWE INTERCONTINENTAL TITLE MATCH: Cody Rhodes(c) vs. Booker T- 6.25/10. Booker’s still got it.

TRIPLE THREAT TABLES, LADDERS, & CHAIRS MATCH FOR THE WWE TITLE: CM Punk(c) vs. The Miz vs. Alberto Del Rio (w/Ricardo Rodriguez)- 8/10. Very exciting, and a lot of points for creativity.

Overall, this was a good show by WWE, but really not great. The PPV was worth the money, but probably not worth buying when it comes out on DVD.

Best WWE Show of the Year. Even more than MITB.

I wouldn't say that personally. Sure this show was good but it didn't have that Holy Sh*t moment that MITB had. Yes Daniel Bryan cashed in MITB it wasn't as big as CM Punk walking out of MITB as the WWE Champion.

To top that off, there were a few good matches on this card BUT MITB had mostly good matches outside of the Divas match & i think Mark Henry/Big Show. It had arguably the best WWE match in quite some time that was just perfect. The MITB matches were also pretty good. The SmackDown MITB itself was pretty damn good with Daniel Bryan winning it.

a holy shit moment doesn't make a PPV good, it just makes it memorable. the two MITB matches were good, but they seem great because they were won by the people we wanted, but were not the best MITB ever. Orton vs Christian was good too, but it was the DQ end. Only Cena/Punk was 5 stars. Last night, Ziggler/Ryder was a great match, the TLC was great, the tables was good, Rhodes/Book was great, Trips/Nash was amazing compared to what was expected, and the impromptu matches were pretty decent too, AirBoom/Colons was really good. Even the 5 minute chair match was great.

Really? I don't think it came anywhere close. It was maybe in the top six, but I don't think this show came close to Summer Slam, Hell In A Cell or Elimination Chamber, never mind Money In The Bank.

No. The MITB watches were legitimately GREAT matches. They had great spots, and the Smackdown one especially told some great stories, with the interactions between Slater, Gabriel, and Barrett, Sheamus' dominance, and culminating in Dragon's underdog win.

they were good matches, what you would expect from a MITB match. I'm not saying that MITB was a bad show, but TLC is definitely up there with it. I personally think TLC was better

You're right a Holy Sh*t moment doesn't make a PPV. 3 great matches capped off with one being the best match of the year with a Holy Sh*t moment at the end of it makes a PPV. Even Orton/Christian was an alright match with that finish being the only downfall of it but the rest of the show was great. The stories from that show will be remembered for years to come. TLC only had Daniel Bryan cashing in MITB which he won in July in a great match. MITB will be remembered mostly for the night CM Punk won the WWE Championship & left the WWE with it AND the night Daniel Bryan won MITB. Del Rio winning the RAW MITB was good but not as unexpected as Bryan winning.

Exactly, MITB was good because it had good matches, don't try to sell the PPV with a holy shit moment.

No.
TLC had the high point of the Ryder Revolution
TLC had the end of the HHH/Nash feud. and potentially Nash's retirement match. a great match that everyone (including myself) bashed from the start point.
TLC had a great TLC triple threat match

this is like crapping all over the work of the wrestlers involved. MITB will be remembered because of the 5 star match between Punk and Cena, not just the end of the match. Do you remember who won Joe vs Punk II?? you may not, but you remember that it was a hell of a match. Best in the World '11 is mostly referenced because of Eddie vs Davey and not because Davey won the title.
