announcing teams

Post by cero2k » Nov 2nd, '11, 16:09

Joey styles used to do it alone.
Jr and Lawler were pretty much always together
now it's typically to have a three man team

Regardless of who is in the seats, what do you like more?
and why?

Duo. It allows for a back-and-forth, and having two people in the booth allows them to take sides, but you don't have too many people talking at once.

i dont have a problem with a single guy/gal doing commntary, since i tend to enjoy the play by play stuff. but i also prefer two man teams AS LONG one is play by play and the other is color commentary. I've seen too many teams lately where both are doing just commentary and not really covering the match.

I prefer duos. I like the concept of two guys calling a match with clashing opinions. I feel it helps sell the story better. Three man teams are too convoluted and it feels like they're trying to compete for attention.

I actually like the three man team.

WCW had it down with the greatest, Tony Schiavone, Heenan and Tenay (before when he was good) and or Dusty Rhodes "He's got a bicycle!!!!!!"

I like the dynamic of having the leader, the colour and the play by play.

This!

Too many cooks spoil the broth, especially in an OMG! moment, you got three guys shouting and whatever it makes it hard to follow. With two guys, it allows for a simple back and forth and the best way to play it is the JR/King way, one supports the face without being too biased, the other supports the heels without being too biased.

2 Man all the way.

While Joey Styles is my favorite Play by Play Man of all time, it adds so much to a show when you have a face and a heel in the booth that can play off of one another. Three is too many for all the aforementioned reasons. There gets to be too many people talking at once, and they tend to derail from the match all together. Most of the time I feel like the third is just talking for the sake of being heard (*cough* Booker T *cough*) to defend his seat. Every week they need to show the Powers That Be why the Three Man Booth was a good idea when, according to this pole anyway, it's not what the fans prefer.
