I know that there are times when it's entirely plausible, logical, and a good idea to play the cowardly bitch heel.
But I hate it.
I especially hate it when some huge rampaging heel suddenly loses his spine when he gets what he wants.
Sheamus storms onto Raw from ECW and is all "I'M GONNA BEAT THE CRAP OUTTA YOU CENA AND TAKE THAT TITLE!"
He wins the title and he's high and mighty. Next day, he asks for the day off. The man who's afraid of nothing is suddenly very afraid of Cena. As if his victory was thoroughly meaningless and in no way some sort of indication of what he's capable of doing. (I know it was a table match, let's just run with it.)
Christian loses the belt to Orton. ONE MORE MATCH! ONE MORE MATCH! He gets two shots after losing in which he has 0 fear of Orton. He turns heel, gets his title back and suddenly all his stride is gone. I'm ditching like a sad sad little baby for the hills.
Alberto Del Rio! IT IS MY DESTINY TO BE CHAMPION! NOW THAT I AM CHAMPION IT IS MY DESTINY TO COWER IN THE BACKSEAT OF MY CAR!
I like Mark Henry's reign on the fact that there's not really as much of this sad cowering crap. Orton wants his title back? RUN HIM OVER. Orton still wants it back? RUN HIM OVER AGAIN. I saw him refuse the challenge of the Big Show and if this leads to more coward heel crap, I'm gonna metaphorically vomit.

It's been that way forever, and will continue forever.

and if the character is right (AKA Miz/Ric Flair) there's nothing wrong with that.yourcrapsweak wrote:It's been that way forever, and will continue forever.

If it fits in with the character then i'm alright with it. I hope they don't do it with Mark Henry now....

Re: I'm tired of coward heels
I know it keeps happening and its logical, but when a heel with all this bluster suddenly gets what he wants and loses his spine....
It just really annoys the hell out of me.

So you're issue is when the bada** heel like Mark Henry or Sheamus all of sudden chickens out of any challenge laid down.Verdun wrote:I know it keeps happening and its logical, but when a heel with all this bluster suddenly gets what he wants and loses his spine....

Might i suggest Cody Rhodes for your viewing pleasure. The man says i don't want to defend the belt, then someone forces him to and he just goes "F*ck It", does the match & retains his title.

Re: I'm tired of coward heels
Pretty much. I just don't get where all their steam goes once they get to that spot. I understand with Del Rio because he's been painted as a coward at heart, but I couldn't stand it when it was Sheamus backing down. I'm a Celtic Warrior on all days where Cena's not challenging me.Rabid619 wrote:So you're issue is when the bada** heel like Mark Henry or Sheamus all of sudden chickens out of any challenge laid down.

I haven't been paying too much attention to Rhodes, but I am liking his bit with Randy Orton so far.

Re: I'm tired of coward heels
I've always hated that as well. Especially when the heel was supposed to be a tough guy. With heels like Edge, Punk and Christian, it kind of makes more sense, because they're smaller then a lot of the other guys. Especially with Edge, who was known mainly to capitalize when the babyface was the most vulnerable, so backing down made sense, because he always got them when they weren't expecting it.
Pretty much any heel who is smaller than most guys on the roster should have to play a cowardly heel, because honestly, it doesn't matter how badass or tough you are, when you weigh 200-240 against a guy who's like 260-300.
