Canned Heat
I hate the fact that it's so obvious they are using canned heat now. They are piping in cheers and boos for everyone because nobody is over. I say this now because I'm watching Smackdown at the moment, and Mark Henry, after "breaking" Khali's leg, had no reaction whatsoever, but then the most obviously canned "boo" came in because they realized that nobody gives a crap about Khali.
Just had to rant.

I hate it, too. And not just in wrestling. I love watching The Big Bang Theory, but the canned laughter at things that really aren't that funny (or things that stopped being funny a while ago, like Sheldon's knocking on people's doors) gets annoying.
If a guy can't get heat, he can't get heat. Don't try and force it on the TV audience. Just depush him and get someone else who CAN get heat.

I was actually at a live taping of the Big Bang Theory once. If you hear a bunch of guys going "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! and whistling," when Penny walks in, I contributed to that. ^_^Big Red Machine wrote:I hate it, too. And not just in wrestling. On the topic of canned heat... I think sometimes they tend to have to for dramatic effect. We can't just let something dramatic go on TV with zero reaction. I think the average person wouldn't pick up on canned heat and given that the two options are making an awkward silence for the many or outraging the few.....

Canned heat and canned cheers have been around forever and it's likely not going away any time soon. After all, what do you think the "plants" used to do?
Reality TV is faker than "fake" wrestling!

Sure it has, but what is your opinion about using it? I think instead of pretending they're over, you should actually get them over.kirbs2002 wrote:Canned heat and canned cheers have been around forever and it's likely not going away any time soon. I'm with YCW on this. You can't fake it. Even back when I was a kid, I never cheered a guy just because a crowd cheered him. I made my own mind up.yourcrapsweak wrote:Sure it has, but what is your opinion about using it? I don't believe you should fake it. Stock in a guy isn't going to up just because a false crowd cheer for him. If he's not as over as he should be why doesn't the guys in the back think "Okay, we need to do something new"
I think in some instances they do it because a guy is more popular in one city than in another, You can always tell pro-cena crowds and anti-cena crowds (AKA Philly & Chicago). Just because he gets less pops in one city, doesn't mean you have to can it up. PLAY ON IT. Have Randy say "The guys in (last week's destination who cheered him) were a better crowd than you toolbags!"
If they're anti-Orton, use it. it won't interfere with his face status, just being real in that city. Cena does it, he knows where he's up against a rough crowd and he plays on it. and makes jokes about his 5 moves of doom & how he can't wrestle and stuff, it doesn't interfere with his face status, in fact he just makes them laugh.
I'm firmly against canned heat and I'd love to see a poll attached to this so it's clear where the forum stands.

Re: Canned Heat
I can't detect when they use canned heat. I'm not usually paying that much attention.
Re: Canned Heat
What I was getting at, was that it is an integral part of the whole "work" and I'm fine with it. I just ask that if some decide to use this tactic, try to make it seem realistic.yourcrapsweak wrote:Sure it has, but what is your opinion about using it?
