F*ck ROH
F*ck ROH
So, let me get this straight...I have to PAY to see a television show that people in their LIMITED NUMBER of markets get FOR F*CKING FREE?! No. F*ck that. It's not my fault that their mom and pop "Broadcast Group" doesn't have a market anywhere that I wouldn't have to drive 4 hours to get to.
Before you think, "Sassafras is so cheap, it's only 8 bucks", it's only a little bit about the money. I'm spending money that I'm saving up to train to (until I found out about this sh*t) hopefully work for their outfit someday. I live in a city with one of the highest unemployment rates per capita in the country. I'm selling the back-stock of poems and songs I've written since I was 14, just to handle all my expenses to get into this business. And I can't even get a goddamn TV show for free online?
It wouldn't be so bad, had I not already been POURING money into their machine for the last 5 years! DVD's, PPV's, the whole nine. And now, after all that loyalty and defending them against any mark I encountered online or in real life, putting them on such a f*cking pedestal even when their product was sub-par, they can't show enough loyalty back to let me see their f*cking show for free??? I'm clearly taking it personally.
I'm not asking for the entire DVD back-catalog for free or anything else, I even found a way to defend them when they became such f*cking Nazis that they removed fan-made MV's featuring ROH clips from YouTube and similar sites. But this is unforgivable. They need to fix this. Ring of Dishonor is so goddamn money-hungry, they're making the McMahons look like generous, honest church-going folk.
If they rectify this situation, I may come around. But, as of now, ROH has lost at least one loyal fan.

Re: F*ck ROH
I think perhaps you've gone a bit loco.
For the areas Ring of Honor charge there'll be no doubt a harder market, so a network will attempt to recoup any costs. This will not be a Ring of Honor money making scheme. They're not about that.

Re: F*ck ROH
I think it is. If they were offering a live show in this situation, not something taped over a month in advance, I'd be more willing to go along with it. F*ck ROH. I'm going to work in Japan.

Re: F*ck ROH
I just think you need to back up here. Ring of Honor are not money grabbers, of course they want to make money, who doesn't. But if THEY had plans to charge for their programming they'd charge nationwide, not in certain areas. Which brings me back to this being a Subsidisation needed by the Network to air Ring of Honor, which in ROH's defense is very fair, they're being upfront and honest, trying to get the best nationwide coverage they can.Sassafras wrote:I think it is. Re: F*ck ROH
Jim Cornette tweeted that ROH will be available completely free the Thursday after it airs, via their website.
I was beyond pissed off too until I found that out.
It's not the end of the world man.

Sorry for losing my cool, guys. It was a bad morning and I had to find SOMETHING to rant about. The reality is, I went to the doctor this morning, thinking I'd be medically cleared to train. I was not. So I got pissed.

Re: F*ck ROH
I am going to back Sass up a bit here. Some of us don't have the money to pay a monthly membership for things. I have no problem waiting to see the TV show, but what irks me the most is the apparent loss of the ROH message board. I rarely ever posted there, but I enjoyed reading it some of the time, and it was a source for live results and reviews, and now it's gone.
As a whole, the current ROH business model is very disconcerting to me. We used to get return dates announced during intermission for every show, so we knew, months out, when ROH would be back. Now, that only seems to happen for NY and Chicago. No announcements have been made for a borderline major, budding market like Toronto, and no announcements have been made for Philly either (it has been almost half a year since ROH last ran those two cities). No announcements have been made for other historically good ROH markets like Detroit and Boston, either. I honestly feel like Cornette is putting too much stock in his southern strategy. I haven't seen Bluegrass Brawl yet, but I didn't think that the Louisville crowd at the TV tapings was that good, and despite the getting some awesome shows, I haven't been overly impressed with Charlotte, either. Meanwhile, ROH is pushing those markets (now expanding to SC, too). Meanwhile we keep bringing in Mike Mondo, who has yet to impress anyone outside of OVW in any way whatsoever.
Sorry for the side rant, but the point is that, at this time last year, we knew when ROH was coming back to almost every market it was in. Now, we only have return dates for Charlotte, Louiville, NY, Chicago, Dayton, and Collinsville, and most of those are announced via the website so someone who will go to a show occasionally, but doesn't check the website won't know about them.
Anyway, rant over. On the particular issue in question, I disagree with Sass, but I definitely sympathize with him.
