BRM Reviews the 9/19/2011 Raw

Post by Big Red Machine » Sep 22nd, '11, 17:19

OPENING SEGMENT- GREAT!

As for the WWE Title match at Hell in a Cell… this could actually play into Punk’s angle, so no one can screw him over. But either way, this PPV needs to go. Just the fact that it will only have two weeks of build should be enough to tell WWE that it is a bad idea.

OTUNGA, MCGILLICUTTY, WADE BARRETT & CHRISTIAN vs. KOFI KINGSTON, EVAN BOURNE, SHEAMUS, & JUSTIN GABRIEL- 4/10.

TRIPLE H BACKSTAGE SEGMENTS WITH DEL RIO AND THE REFEREE- Great

JOHN MORRISON vs. ALBERTO DEL RIO (w/Ricardo Rodriguez)- No rating. I understand what they did, but I don’t think it was done as well as it could have been. IMO, when you do the quick tap out win against a non-jobber, he should last a while in the hold. This makes the loser still look tough and still makes the winner’s submission look strong because it, alone, will inevitably get the tap out.

DOLPH, VICKIE & HUGH JACKMAN SEGMENT- good. It led to something, and we got a bit ore dissension between Dolph & Vickie.

SIN CARA SEGMENT- very good.

MIZ & R-TRUTH & TRIPLE H- GREAT! You got the feeling that they were sincere. They do love being WWE superstars. Maybe they only love being WWE superstars so that they can be giant assholes on TV, but they do love being superstars. That sincerity made this segment feel much more real thatn your standard heel apology.

JR INTERVIEWS MARK HENRY- LOVED IT! (I didn’t, however, like Josh Matthews taking over on commentary. It doesn’t make sense that he would be at the show. If they didn’t know he would be there, why would he need to be there? They should have had Striker take over instead.)

EVE TORRES & KELLY KELLY vs. THE DIVAS OF DOOM (Beth Phoenix & Natalya)- 3/10. I don’t get what they are going for in this angle.

ZACK RYDER (w/Hugh Jackman) vs. DOLPH ZIGGLER (w/Vickie Guerrero)- 4/10. I’m actually okay with Ryder winning this way. It keeps Dolph from looking weak, and Ryder, while a babyface… isn’t really your typical babyface. He just wants to get on TV, and he will take any win he can get.

JACK SWAGGER SHOWS VICKIE HIS VIDEO PACKAGE- GREAT STUFF

PUNK & CENA BACKSTAGE- Good

JOHN CENA & CM PUNK vs. R-TRUTH & THE MIZ- 5.5/10. Not close to good enough for a main event, but Miz & R-Truth played their angle well.

STUFF WITH TRIPLE H, MIZ & TRUTH- could be good, if it goes somewhere. If it is Triple h firing them for spite for trying to cost him his job, transitioning Hunter into a heel again, it will be good.

Overall, not a very good episode of Raw.

I personally felt that it made the Triple H/ Punk match seem like a flash of light, like an easy way to not have to continue working on it.
I don't know who mentioned it, but they need to at least switch NoC with HIAC. NoC doesn't really need build up, they're just title matches.

not sure how I feel about someone like Del Rio hinting a McMahon return, especially if it will happen.

I loved this segment, Vicky was gold. Ziggler confusing Jackman with Batman was amazing, and Jackman not really saying anything was even better. nothing like a joke that you don't need to explain. I do however, wonder if Ryder was indeed supposed to be the guy that was gonna take on Ziggler or things have to be re-booked at last minute.

Matthews comes with the SuperShow package, same as striker or long. what i'm getting tired off is that once JR is in the ring, you already know he's getting killed or something.

I'm lost too, i don't know where this is gonna end up. right now the soo called Divas of Doom look like the weakest pair of divas in the division. Even the Bellas have a pin over Kelly square in the last month or soo

i could just imagine Swagger staying all night preparing his video to show to Vicky.

that was actually what i enjoy most of this match, watching Miz get angry and truth be all "take it easy man"

I loved how Truth and Miz simply took the fight to Hunter, it wasn't your typical McMahon firing were the guys go out crying. but i hate it when they make the whole roster sit and watch TV, especially for that type of ending.

I'm really not digging the Sin Cara angle. I'm confused, the fans are confused and don't know how to react, it's not being well received. If you notice, the crowd is silent for the whole segment.

That was the ONLY time during the segment the crowd made any noise. But other than that, they had no idea how to react.

i don't think it's the angle itself, they just need to make obvious who's who. Live it's impossible to differentiate one from the other. Hunico is not THAT big to make out when you're in the audience.

I think they should start putting one in white and the other in blue.

it'll eventually come to this, silver vs blue. Mistico's old name was the prince of silver and gold, so i can see Sin Cara getting a but more Mistico in the future.
