World title winners in more than one country
Guys, help me on this one...
In my opinion, true World champions hold titles that are either defended World wide against international competition (ala the NWA World title) or have actually held World championships in more than one country (which is my topic)... Here's the ones I know about:
Jeff Jarrett (US, Mexico, Australia)
Kurt Angle (US, Japan)
Vader (US, Mexico, Germany)
Hulk Hogan (US, Japan)
Bret Hart (US, Canada)
Sting (US, Australia)
Any others? I'm curious...

Are you only talking World Heavyweight?? or Cruiserweights and tag teams too??
Brock Lesnar (US, Japan)
Takeshi Morishima (US, Japan, Mexico[Tag Team])
Go Shiosaki (US, Japan) - if you were to consider the FIP title as such. I wouldn't really. But he did win Tag Gold in Mexico

I forgot about Brock...DANG!
I think Mr Saito counts too... I know he's a former AWA World champ & think he's a former Japanese World champ...

Zandig (US, Japan)
Masaaki Mochizuki (Japan, US)
Ultimo Dragon (EVERYWHERE)
CIMA (Japan, Mexico, Australia)
Jushin Liger (Japan, Mexico)
I'm trying to think of people in Dragon Gate and DGUSA...

Dragon and Liger have never won Heavyweight gold, only Jr, Light, Cruiser, middle, welter, but never pure heavyweight.yourcrapsweak wrote:Zandig (US, Japan)

But that discounts the way that the Japanese view their Jr. Heavyweights. They Jr. Heavyweight belts in Japana are just as respected as the Heavyweight belts, and are often featured on top of the card.ECWFlairfan wrote:just World heavyweight... if I were to include tag teams i'd have a MUCH longer list...cero2k wrote:Are you only talking World Heavyweight?? or Cruiserweights and tag teams too??

This. A lot of people don't realize that Heavyweight Championships aren't always the most respected and top prizes in wrestling. Like in Dragon Gate. Their main title is the Open the Dream Gate Championship. Is it a heavyweight title? No. But if you were to evaluate it, it's the equivalent of the WWE Championship or WWE World Heavyweight Championship.Big Red Machine wrote:But that discounts the way that the Japanese view their Jr. Heavyweights. yeah, i understand that, that's why i asked earlier if we were counting tag and lighter weights, or just heavyweights.Big Red Machine wrote:This. Same with Mexico.yourcrapsweak wrote:This. Re: World title winners in more than one country
Also, since you seem to be including the joke that was the World Wrestling All-Stars World Title, then Lex Luger and Scott Steiner should be on your list as well. Also, Otto Wanz won it in both the CWA and AWA.
One promotion you seem to have missed entirely is WxW, the biggest promotion on the European mainland (I'm not sure if it is bigger than some of the British promotions). Due to its list, you should add: Daisuke Sekimoto, Chris Hero, Claudio Castagnoli, and Bryan Danielson (and if you are counting IWA-MS as a World-level title, also, Colt Cabana, Jimmy Jacobs, Iam Rotten, and Mike Quackenbush)

I considered wXw, but I didn't feel like looking up the title histories.Big Red Machine wrote:Also, since you seem to be including the joke that was the World Wrestling All-Stars World Title, then Lex Luger and Scott Steiner should be on your list as well.
