The Undertaker reveals key reason for retirement from WWE

The Undertaker’s main reason for his retirement from WWE was his body saying it was time to go.

In a media session ahead of driving the pace car at Nascar’s EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix in Austin, Undertaker spoke on a multitude of wrestling and racing topics, but took time and gave insight into his retirement from professional wrestling as it pertained to young talent rising the ranks like they have in the racing world.

“For me, I went through a lot of generations, ya know, I was there for a good minute,” Undertaker said of his WWE run. “For me, it was my body telling me. You know, I was there for so long and I got to see different eras of new guys come in and those guys always continued to push me. That was good, but it just got to a point where although my mind can see it and I wanted to do it in my heart, my body just couldn’t keep up with the 20 and 30 somethings anymore.”

“I’m excited at the evolution of our business,” Undertaker said on wrestling’s future. “The guys, their athleticism and their dedication is amazing. I’m really proud to be a part of the evolution of the business and I think the future of the WWE is in really good hands.”

The Undertaker will take his place in the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2022. Vince McMahon will induct him on Friday April 1. Other members of the 2022 class include The Steiner Brothers, Vader, and Sharmell.

The 2022 WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony will air live on Peacock after this week’s WWE Smackdown.
