Josh Alexander's Impact Wrestling contract, U.S. work visa expire

When former Impact World and X-Division Champion Josh Alexander was taken off this Saturday's No Surrender show, most assumed it was just part of an ongoing storyline given how it was presented.

However, Alexander revealed on Twitter Monday that his Impact Wrestling contract has expired which means his U.S. work visa has also expired. The Canadian is therefore unable to work in the U.S. until that is resolved.

The 34-year-old Alexander was booked in a four-way elimination match at Terminus' second event later this month in addition to an AML Wrestling event also later this month. He will miss both of them.

Last Thursday, Impact VP Scott D'Amore removed Alexander from the five-on-five Team Impact vs. Honor No More match set for Saturday and was "sent home." Alexander has been campaigning for a World title rematch since he both won and lost the title on the same night at last October's Bound for Glory.

Alexander debuted for Impact in 2018, signing a three-year deal in February 2019. He was part of The North with Ethan Page, holding the Tag Team titles twice. After Page departed, Alexander returned to singles wrestling in 2021 with a long X-Division title reign and a win over Christian Cage for the Impact World title.

I take it this means he's not staying with Impact, as if he were, they would have signed him to an extension and taken care of the visa already.

Kinda what I'm thinking too, unless there was a legit problem processing the visa itself. All things considered, it could be a process delay they were not expecting. Considerably different situations, but here in the border with Mexico, I know some people are on waiting lists longer than 4 months for their visa renewals.

The whole getting into the team and then being taken out is weird too, I'm not 100% on what was taped where and when, but I think everything including No Surrender has been taped already, and if it was all taped together, why even add him to the team to begin with.

If anything else, this answers our question about AEW not seeking out Alexander before when they brought in Page.
