Impact Wrestling will be in Dallas, Texas on the same weekend as the city hosts the opening night of New Japan Pro Wrestling's G1 Climax.

During tonight's Rebellion broadcast, it was announced that Slammiversary XVII will take place in Dallas on Sunday, July 7. The opening night of this year's G1 is being held at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on Saturday, July 6.

Ahead of that weekend, WWE Raw is taking place at the American Airlines Center on Monday, July 1.

Impact has yet to reveal the venue for Slammiversary XVII. The event is their next pay-per-view.

Impact and Booker T's Reality of Wrestling are partnering together for a show in Texas City, Texas on July 6. It's named Deep Impact and will air live on Impact's Twitch channel.

Arlington, Texas hosted Slammiversary 10 in 2012 and Slammiversary XII in 2014. Slammiversary XVI took place in Toronto, Ontario, Canada last year.

Here's Impact's announcement video for Slammiversary XVII:

-- Impact Announced the evolution of the Global Wrestling Network into Impact+. All current GWN Subscribers will be grandfathered in.

-- Michael Elgin made his debut for Impact Wrestling tonight, immediately catapulting himself into their world title scene.

Brian Cage defeated Johnny Impact to win the Impact World title at tonight’s Rebellion pay-per-view. After the match, Elgin appeared on the stage and made his way to the ring. Following a staredown, Elgin jumped Cage, took the title and gave him the Elgin bomb. He then posed with the title before leaving.

Elgin has been associated with New Japan Pro Wrestling since 2015, winning both the Intercontinental and NEVER titles on one occasion. He did not re-sign with the company earlier this year and left last month on March 24, teaming with Colt Cabana and Toa Henare to defeat Satoshi Kojima, Hiroyoshi Tenzan and Shota Umino. His contract officially expired on 4/1.

Since leaving NJPW, Elgin has mostly worked the Canadian independent scene. He’s also previously worked for Ring of Honor, where he held their world championship on one occasion.

Getting rid of the GFW name and bringing everything under the same branding name was a long overdue move.

yeah, i suspect part of it was to set up the new copyrights, redesigning the user interface, and the technology to stream. It's been live for about a year and a half, maybe there were some contracts that needed to expire and re-negotiated. Good move nonetheless
