BRM Reviews the 2/13/2019 NXT (awesome)
DOMINIK DIJAKOVIC vs. SHANE THORNE- 4.5/10
Thorne worked the arm. The match was awesome for the time it got. I’m really liking Dijakovic’s matches. The style is just different enough to mesh with everyone else while still really standing out.
UNDISPUTED ERA PROMO- great
They vow to all have gold by the end of 2019 and that 2019 will be their year. Also, they officially announced that Fish & O’Reilly will go back to being the tag team while Roddy will now be competing in the singles division.
IO SHIRAI (& KAIRI SANE) INTERVIEW AFTER LAST WEEK’S PIN ON NXT WOMEN’S CHAMPION SHAYNA BASZLER- good segment
Io is coming for Baszler’s title. Bianca Belair showed up and alleged that she had Baszler beaten both in this match and at TakeOver: Phoenix, and that Io stole her pin tonight (Io did tag herself in, but she did hit her own finisher first, so we’ll never know whether Bianca’s move alone would have been enough to put Baszler down).
HUMBERTO CARRILLO & STACEY ERVIN JR. vs. ? & ?- no rating
This suddenly turned into a…
KASSIUS OHNO PROMO & SEGMENT WITH KEITH LEE- good
Ohno came out and said he hated the crowd was going to leave NXT to go somewhere that he would actually be given the chance to show that he’s the best of all time. Keith Lee came up behind him, and when Ohno turned around, Lee knocked him out with a rolling elbow and cut a good promo on him. He then asked everyone to pardon his interruption and indicated that the show should continue as scheduled with…
HUMBERTO CARRILLO & STACEY ERVIN JR. vs. THE STREET PROFITS- 6.75/10
The Street Profits mocked the unconscious Ohno on their way down to the ring. This was another match that was awesome for the time it got. Maybe CageMatch.net’s times are wrong?
Ervin got a surprising amount of chants for someone making his TV debut. It was almost his last TV match, too, as Montez Ford almost killed him with a high angle back suplex. Also, where did Raul Mendoza go?
Everyone looked good. The idea here was that the Street Profits were more aggressive than usual. They got the win.
POST-MATCH SEMGMENT- good
The Street Profits cut a promo saying they were ready for war and saying they wanted a tag title shot. Aichner & Marcel and Burch & Lorcan both came out and words were exchanged. Eventually the War Raiders came out and dared anyone to come get them. They started towards the ring, but got jumped from behind by Undisputed Era (sans Adam Cole), then tossed into the ring. This turned into a brawl with everyone but UE, who retreated up the ring. The War Raiders won the brawl, which I thought made the other three teams look a little chump-ish.
JOHNNY GARGANO VIDEO PACKAGE- good
He says that he is the only one who knows what is best for him and vows “to show the NXT locker room how dangerous I can be.” Notably, Gargano was clad entirely in white while cutting this promo. That’s not a coincidence.
TAYNARA CONTI vs. ALIYAH- 3/10
Conti has new bouncier music, and apparently has a new personality to go along with it. Aliyah has new ring gear. Said ring gear is a horrible eye-sore, but at least that means it watches her in-ring ability. Aliyah won after Vanessa Bourne interfered on her behalf. You’d think at this point that WWE would just cut these two instead of trying to push them, but apparently not.
POST-MATCH SEGMENT- good
The Horsewomen came out and beat everyone up. Baszler then cut a promo simply warning everyone “Dno not get in our way, do no question us, and- oooh- absolutely DO NOT PISS US OFF!”
I’d watch Baszler vs. Conti.
THE VELVETEEN DREAM VIDEO PACKAGE- meh build to next week’s North American Title match against Johnny Gargano.
RICOCHET vs. ADAM COLE- 8.25/10
Cole worked over Ricochet’s knee and Ricochet sold wonderfully throughout the match, all building up to one big burst of fighting spirit at the end that lasted just long enough to put Cole away. Throw in some great false finishes and you’ve got quite the awesome main event.
POST-MATCH SEGMENT- fine
Undisputed Era came out and beat down Ricochet. Aleister Black came out to make the save but got taken out by Roderick Strong, so I guess those two are going to feud now.
An awesome episode of NXT, with some great promos, some great matches for the time they got, and an awesome main event.

Oh whatever. I feel like Undisputed Era has been saying and doing this whole "gonna win all the titles and run everything" shit for two years and still haven't done it.
When they come, they'll come at what you love.
Re: BRM Reviews the 2/13/2019 NXT (awesome)
Yeah... I feel that. I freakin love those guys, but it's hard to get excited for them anymore. When they were winning War Games, and North American Championships, and Tag Team Championships, competing in the Royal Rumble, and winning... you know... matches....... it was fun! Now, two years later, their goal is having all the gold in NXT by the end of the year. Shouldn't their goal be getting called up? I mean... it kind of takes the wind out of their sails to think about how long they've been in developmental... and their goal is to still be there at the end of the year.

You can make the "shouldn't their goal be getting called up" argument about everyone.Bob-O wrote: ↑Feb 14th, '19, 22:33Yeah... I feel that. I'm not even sure how that would work in kayfabe. Unless I've missed lots of somethings...NXT is at times it's own universe within WWE and "getting called up" just isn't ever really a thing until it actually finally happens and then that's it.Big Red Machine wrote: ↑Feb 14th, '19, 23:19You can make the "shouldn't their goal be getting called up" argument about everyone.Bob-O wrote: ↑Feb 14th, '19, 22:33Yeah... Re: BRM Reviews the 2/13/2019 NXT (awesome)
Exactly. They have never established any sort of mechanism to explain it and NXT basically pretends that it doesn't happen, so saying "they should focus on getting called up not on winning titles" isn't really a fair criticism.KILLdozer wrote: ↑Feb 15th, '19, 00:46I'm not even sure how that would work in kayfabe. Re: BRM Reviews the 2/13/2019 NXT (awesome)
I mean at this point though they should focus on something beside the same fuckin' narrative I've yet to see them accomplish. I mean(again)...Who the gives a shit about this stable that's still talking about dominating and accomplishing everything two years later? That ain't legitimate or dangerous at all lol. That's just management being high on them without actually doing anything about it..I guess lol.
Adam Cole needs to go from the group and Strong should reenter the main event scene. I'm pretty sure Cole's never even been given a NXT title opportunity, let alone been in position to earn one...but...
"GONNA HOLD AAAALLLL THE GOLD IN 2017,18 AND 19!!!"
Wtf are they actually really doing here with them lol.

Come to think of it...it's gotta be leading to an angle. I'm not sure why else you'd book something like that for that long.

Re: BRM Reviews the 2/13/2019 NXT (awesome)
That's what I'm saying. I'm not "criticizing" by any means, and while nobody ever talks about being "called up" (except Velveteen's pants that one time), people DO get called up. They make a big deal about it! The FREE AGENTS! The tears when they get drafted. It's just assumed that's what they're all there for, making the best of it in the meantime. It's just struck me as odd. They SAID "...we'll hold all the gold by the end of 2019..." I HEARD "...we're all still going to be in NXT 11 months from now because we're not as good as Heavy Machinery and No Way Jose."
I don't think it leads to a specific angle, they just needed something to talk about while explaining why Roddy and O'Reilly weren't teaming anymore, and that's what came out of Cole's mouth.

Re: BRM Reviews the 2/13/2019 NXT (awesome)
And even then with UE they’ve dropped the ball when they’ve actually had them in feuds against another stable. Take their mini feud with British Strong Style for example. It was okay and the matches were good, but they could’ve done a lot more (both to further establish British Strong Style and push UE further...) they watered it down as a stable vs stable feud because they involved Ricochet and War Raiders and it diluted a pure feud.
Which is annoying because between the two, you’ve got 7 top workers and a combination of I don’t know how many matches you could’ve done and blown that off properly at War Games by having BSS maybe joined by one extra British Guy ... someone like Dave Mastiff would have been good for War Games because you’d have UE wondering how they can topple “the big guy” and have them overcome it to further establish that dominance stablewise (and BSS still get the rub of putting on good matches and blowing off a good feud).

This was because they wanted Moustache Mountain in particular to be faces of the UK brand so they didn't use them on NXT. I have no problem with the babyface team "coming together" and then having to learn how to work as a unit to face the heels who are a unit as a story.XIV wrote: ↑Feb 15th, '19, 23:25 And even then with UE they’ve dropped the ball when they’ve actually had them in feuds against another stable. I see BSS vs. UE and Dunne/Ricochet/War Raiders vs. UE as separate feuds.

Re: BRM Reviews the 2/13/2019 NXT (awesome)
To me it doesn't make them seem worse than No Way Jose or Heavy Machinery because those guys (especially Jose, The IIconics, Mojo, Dan Brooke, The Ascension and other "failed" call-ups) come across like low-level dorks who got the chance to compete with the big boys and got obliterated. They were shown to be failures. Someone who is still a top act in NXT hasn't failed yet. It's the difference between a top AAA prospect and someone who used to be a top prospect but was proven to be a bust. Someone who is succeeding at the highest level he/she has been given a chance to play at should be considered a success until proven otherwise.Bob-O wrote: ↑Feb 15th, '19, 23:14That's what I'm saying. Re: BRM Reviews the 2/13/2019 NXT (awesome)
I grant that just fine, BSS said in a recent interview on UK TV that they’re at the WWE now, and they don’t want to accomplish everything overnight, they’ve got time and don’t want to rush things and feel burned out before their time. Which contributes to them not rushing into NXT as mainstays, but if you’re gonna feud up, do it properly. They did paint it as a burgeoning feud and I know it was to give MM the Tag Champs in the UK and get Pete Dunne a slight rub, but I just didn’t like how it was done.Big Red Machine wrote: ↑Feb 16th, '19, 16:55This was because they wanted Moustache Mountain in particular to be faces of the UK brand so they didn't use them on NXT.
