Okay, so we've all been seeing these "2/21/11" hype videos on Raw. Originally, a lot of fans believed that the videos hyped a Sting debut in WWE. But, considering the fact that Sting hasn't signed a contract, and the fact that "Ain't No Grave" by Johnny Cash was used in this week's hype vid, it pretty much points all signs to an Undertaker return.
At first, I thought this was a huge disappointment, as I believe that you could literally return Undertaker at anytime, and it would be a legendary moment. I thought, "What's the point of the hype vids then?" I thought this until I actually thought about the nature of the hype promos.
To understand the point I'm going to make, you need to think about Undertaker return packages of the past. Most of them have patterned themselves after some type of horror film, whether it be "The Ring" (with the fuzzy TV static often seen in the videos) or "The Shining" (Think about the "He's Here" package that debuted the American Badass) This one however, has had an Old West feel about it. Think about it. The old house in the middle of a rainy deserted nowhere, the "click clack" sounds whenever the mysterious figure walks, dark sounding country western music.
This leads me to my theory. My theory is simply this, they are hyping an Undertaker return on Feb.21st, but they're giving him a new character, possibly as more of a cross between The American Badass and the Deadman, giving him a more realistic feel (as realistic as a guy rising from the dead can be anyway). This would also give him more accessibility to cut promos like he had with the Badass gimmick, allowing him to branch beyond, the "Blahblahblah you're going to hell Rest in Peace" promos his Deadman gimmick is known for.
And that folks, is my two cents.

I think that'd be even more awesome than Sting
Taker's latest style got stale a while ago for me, and him reinventing himself again is exactly what he needs right now
