Alexa Bliss given on-screen authority figure role

Alexa Bliss has a new role on television, overseeing the Raw women’s division.
Baron Corbin, who is now calling himself the General Manager-Elect of Raw, ran into Bliss backstage. After she put him over and asked if she could do anything for him, Corbin offered her a chance to oversee the entire Raw women’s division.
She accepted the role, later hosting a open forum with Sasha Banks and Bayley. That ended when Mickie James, Alicia Fox and Dana Brooke jumped them. Banks and Bayley managed to dispatch them, standing all.
Bliss has been out of action since 10/20 with a concussion. In the most recent issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer wrote that Bliss has suffered multiple concussions recently, which is a cause for concern. She has also reportedly been unable to pass Impact testing, which would allow her to return to the ring.
Corbin named himself the General Manager-Elect in the first segment of the show after saying that while the match between him and Braun Strowman for TLC is still on, Strowman won’t be able to compete due to elbow surgery. It was also mentioned in last week’s Observer Newsletter that there had been discussion of Bliss in the General Manager spot if Corbin was removed.

Even more bad news and frustrating news. Not only is she out for a long time, but now the women's division is going to be filled with the same obnoxious, repetitive poorly-written "bickering with the authority figure" segments that the men's division is.

Wonderful. MORE of her. AGH! (Hank hill grunt of disgust and frustration.)
When they come, they'll come at what you love.
Re: Alexa Bliss given on-screen authority figure role
Anti-Brm shit aside...it's not sounding well for her. I'd probably prefer her more as an on-screen character though. She'd be a better Stephanie type character who'd be better at avoiding and actually getting her ass kicked.

Except if she can't pass impact testing then, she won't be taking bumps, so she'll never get any comeuppance.

As the biggest Alexa Bliss! mark here, I would've expected you to be more positive about this.Big Red Machine wrote: ↑Nov 26th, '18, 22:40 Even more bad news and frustrating news. All kidding aside, if there is one person that can make the authority figure deal work it's her. She's a killer promo and a natural heel. I'm just happy she's being used post injury, so that if/when she does come back, she can be inserted into something immediately, as opposed to her having to come back and more-or-less start anew in he feud department.

Re: Alexa Bliss given on-screen authority figure role
I have no doubt she'll be able to do it better than most others (she is like Samoa Joe in that she has shown a magical ability to take their bullsh*t verbiage and make it sound mostly natural), but just based off of WWE's previous track record, they really don't seem to have any understanding of how to use a heel authority figure who can't bump, and with the state of the women's division currently, I'm afraid she'll wind up in a role much like the one Dragon was in last year as GM of Smackdown; one where she is dragged down by the situations she is put in and the decisions they have her make, despite an excellent performance in the role. It's going to be generic heel authority figure crap, dealing with large groups of poorly-written, constantly-bickering women backstage, and running away from Ronda Rousey.NWK2000 wrote: ↑Nov 27th, '18, 08:19As the biggest Alexa Bliss! mark here, I would've expected you to be more positive about this.Big Red Machine wrote: ↑Nov 26th, '18, 22:40 Even more bad news and frustrating news. Even over the past few weeks, Alexa in her odd attempt at sexy business attire has seemed... off. Less smug. Less intense. And just based off of the past two weeks they have already had her start making decisions that make her look like an idiot in order to incompetently "push" their own poorly-conceived storylines.
Basically, I'm worried they're going to do to her what they did do Dragon last year or Owens during his Braun Strowman feud: take someone I like and stick them in segments so terrible that it greatly hinders my enjoyment of someone who was previously one of my favorite acts in the company.

Re: Alexa Bliss given on-screen authority figure role
they'd probably see it as a demotion, but she should become a manager. Are they just going to give everyone injured an authority position? Dragon, Paige, Angle, now Alexa.

Angle I think is more of an age thing, whereas the other three are "sorry you got injured, so here is a job" (though in Alexa's case they're obviously hoping this isn't permanent and in Dragon's case part of it was to keep him away from ROH and New Japan.

Re: Alexa Bliss given on-screen authority figure role
they're all mostly 'we can't get you cleared, but we need to keep you away from other promotions', and at least with Angle and Dragon, they surely were not taking the 'producer' position like Matt Hardy and everyone else that got forcibly retired.Big Red Machine wrote: ↑Nov 27th, '18, 09:20Angle I think is more of an age thing, whereas the other three are "sorry you got injured, so here is a job" (though in Alexa's case they're obviously hoping this isn't permanent and in Dragon's case part of it was to keep him away from ROH and New Japan.

Re: Alexa Bliss given on-screen authority figure role
She's yet another Nia Jax victim, by the way. Dave's report of the match she got hurt in was her & Mickie vs. Rousey & Nia and noted that Rousey only came in for the finish. So thanks a lot, Nia. Also, we can now add the Bliss & Mickie vs. Trish & Lita match to the list of things Nia Jax has ruined. Maybe if she concusses Ronda, too, they'll actually do something about her, but even then I'm not even sure.

But they have cleared Angle. He's wrestled several times.cero2k wrote: ↑Nov 27th, '18, 09:23they're all mostly 'we can't get you cleared, but we need to keep you away from other promotions', and at least with Angle and Dragon, they surely were not taking the 'producer' position like Matt Hardy and everyone else that got forcibly retired.Big Red Machine wrote: ↑Nov 27th, '18, 09:20Angle I think is more of an age thing, whereas the other three are "sorry you got injured, so here is a job" (though in Alexa's case they're obviously hoping this isn't permanent and in Dragon's case part of it was to keep him away from ROH and New Japan.
Also, Matt's thing seemed to be a bit more of his own decision upon realizing the extent of his injuries and the "producer" role is something he shown some wacky aptitude for in recent years, so it's a natural fit. "Forcible retirement" to me feels more like Jason Jordan's situation, or Jesse Sorrensen's with TNA.
