The "Prestigious" History of the WWE Universal Title

SUMMERSLAM 2016- Finn Balor cleanly defeats Seth Rollins in the tournament finals to become the first WWE Universal Champion.
RAW, 8/22/2016- The next night, Balor vacates the title due to injury.
RAW, 8/29/2016- Kevin Owens win the title in a four-way elimination match in which Triple H’s Pedigree put down the final two competitors rather than anything Owens did.
CLASH OF CHAMPIONS 2016- Owens defeats Seth Rollins to retain the title after copious interference by Chris Jericho.
HELL IN A CELL 2016- Owens defeats Seth Rollins to retain the title after interference by Chris Jericho, even though this was a Hell in a Cell Match.
SURVIVOR SERIES 2016- Title not defended, champion gets DQed in an elimination tag, recording zero eliminations for his team.
ROADBLOCK: END OF THE LINE- Owens retains the title by defeating Roman Reigns by DQ via an evil plan where Owens’ friend Chris Jericho attacked Owens to get Roman DQed.
ROYAL RUMBLE 2017- Owens retains title, defeating Roman Reigns after Braun Strowman interferes to cost Roman the match.
FASTLANE 2017- Goldberg defeats Kevin Owens to win the belt after Owens is distracted by Chris Jericho.
WRESTLEMANIA XXXIII- Brock Lesnar wins the title, defeating Goldberg in less than five minutes.
PAYBACK 2017- Title not defended, champion not on show.
EXTREME RULES 2017- Title not defended, champion not on show.
GREAT BALLS OF FIRE- Brock Lesnar retains the title, cleanly defeating Samoa Joe in less than seven minutes.
SUMMERSLAM 2017- Brock Lesnar retains the title, cleanly defeating Samoa Joe, Roman Reigns, & Braun Strowman.
NO MERCY 2017- Brock Lesnar retains the title, cleanly defeating Braun Strowman in less than ten minutes.
TLC 2017- Title not defended, champion not on show
SURVIVOR SERIES 2017- Title not defended, champion defeats WWE World Heavyweight Champion in non-title match.
ROYAL RUMBLE 2018- Brock Lesnar retains the title, cleanly defeating Braun Strowman and Kane.
ELIMINATION CHAMBER 2018- Title not defended, champion not on show.
WRESTLEMANIA XXXIV- Brock Lesnar retains title, cleanly defeating Roman Reigns.
GREATEST ROYAL RUMBLE- Brock Lesnar retains title via fluke, replays show that Roman Reigns actually should have been awarded the title by similar lucky fluke. Original plan was for Brock Lesnar to retain the title due to fluky double-finish.
BACKLASH 2018- Title not defended, champion not on show.
MONEY IN THE BANK 2018- Title not defended, champion not on show.
EXTREME RULES 2018- Title not defended, champion not on show.
SUMMERSLAM 2018- Roman Reigns wins the title, defeating Brock Lesnar after Brock distracted himself with Braun Strowman.
HELL IN A CELL 2018- Roman Reigns and Braun Strowman go to a non-finish when Brock Lesnar beats them both up.
SUPER SHOW-DOWN- Title not defended, champion wrestles in a six-mam tag.
RAW, 10/22/2018- Champion Roman Reigns vacates the title due to cancer
CROWN JEWEL- Brock Lesnar defeats Braun Strowman in a one-sided match to become the new champion after Baron Corbin hits Strowman with the title belt.
SURVIVOR SERIES 2018- Title will not be defended, champion set to Wrestle WWE World Heavyweight Champion in a non-title match.



28 PPVs and/or Raw title changes while the belt has existed. 11 times the title was not defended, seven times the champion was not on the big show at all. Ten dirty finishes, only seven clean title match finishes. Six different champions but only two clean title wins.

it's actually 5 different champions. Brock is 2 times, and i don't think any of them have ever received their rematch clause title shot.

Six reigns, then.
And I think Balor did technically get his against Roman on Raw, while Brock's presence at Crown Jewel should count as his. But yes. The fact that most of them haven't even asked about it is damning.

All the while the most naturally over of all...has not held it....AND they actually wanna push him heavily, unlike Balor after he won it.

it's probably for the best, Elias is still not at the level to carry the championship.




jk, i know you're talking about Strowman, it's also for the best, Strowman is a better chaser, it's hard to have a babyface monster champion with the type of contenders that WWE has. May as well make him chase until WM and make a big deal out of it. I have to imagine he wins the next Rumble

Elias is a whole other level...people seem to like him, but he's hardly ever actually wrestling anymore. I'm still not sure what all he has going...some people say it's everything but the ring skills.
When they come, they'll come at what you love.
