CHIKARA Quantum of Solace (6/21/2014)- Chicago, IL

THE THROWBACKS vs. THE SUBMISSION SQUAD (Evan Gelistico & Gary the Barn Owl)- 3/10
The match was dull, aside from one spot. Also, if their name is the â€"Submission Squad,” shouldn’t they be doing some submissions?

OPHIDIAN vs. HEIDI LOVELACE-7.25/10
Great wrestling, and great selling by Heidi. I’d like to see more of her in CHIKARA.

MIKE QUACKENBUSH PROMO- he thanked the fans. Totally skippable.

LATVIAN PROUD OAK & LITHUANIAN SNOW TROLL vs. MR. AZERBAIJAN & PRAKASH SABAR- DUD!
This was supposed to be a comedy match, but I really wasn't into most of it. I also hated the finish. The story of the match was that the Lithuanian Snow Troll was the babyface in peril, but the Latvian Proud Oak couldn't make the tag, because of ether heel shenanigans or his own ineptness. So they kept teasing it and kept build up to the hot tag, but it was foiled every time... and then the Snow Troll just won with a small package. It made the whole battle to get the hot tag feel totally worthless.
The heels beat the babyfaces down after the match and laid them out with what I assume are their finishers. Then they threw the babyfaces national flags into the garbage. That was mean.

WORKER ANT vs. DEVIANT- 5.5/10
DeviANT worked over Worker Ant's hand. I was hoping for a lot more of an intense brawl. This just felt disappointing.

PIECES OF HATE vs. ARIK CANNON & DARIN CORBIN- 7.25/10
They did Cena's comeback in slow-mo. That made me laugh. They had a god match with a very good finishing sequence.

ESTONIAN THUNDERFROG vs. THE PROLETARIAT BOAR OF MOLDOVA (w/Prakash Sabar & Mr. Azerbaijan)- 6.75/10
Most of the ThunderFrog's offense involved jumping. That amused me. The Boar worked over the Frog's back for most of the match. They also had an awesome finish. The heels beat ThunderFrog down after the match, but the Latvian Proud Oak and the Lithuanian Snow Troll came out to make the save.

BLASTER MCMASSIVE, OLEG THE USURPER, & JAKA vs. SPECTRAL ENVOY- 7.25/10
The heels were big and strong and mean. The babyfaces were quick and brave. The match was great, with Frightmare in particular looking very impressive.
On commentary, Mike Quackenbush made an interesting point: when Sidney Bakabella is around, these big scary heels are very focused and work together well. When he isn't around, they don't. I assume this will be an important plot point because Quack said it.

A pretty good show from CHIKARA (and a very short one, too, at less than two hours), but an entirely skippable one. I was expecting a lot more from their first regular show after the first show back.
