ROH 9th Anniversary Show (2/26/2011)- Chicago, IL

DAVEY RICHARDS vs. COLT CABANA- 6.5/10

FOUR CORNER SURVIVAL MATCH: Steve Corino vs. Grizzly Redwood vs. Kyle O’Reilly vs. Mike Bennett (w/Brutal Bob Evans)- 5.5/10. Chaotic, but in an enjoyable way.

EL GENERICO vs. MICHAEL ELGIN (w/Truth Martini)- 6.25/10. Good transition into…

NO HOLDS BARRED MATCH FOR THE ROH WORLD TITLE: Roderick Strong(c) (w/Truth Martini) vs. Homicide(c)- 6.5/10. Very disappointing, considering the talent involved (but that was a running theme in Homicide’s matches in this run in ROH… see the problem). The crowd wasn’t very hot for this, either. The booking was good, though, as Truth interfering kept Cide in the title hunt to build up to Defy Or Deny.

MSCHIF vs. SARA DEL REY (w/Shane Hagadorn)- 3.5/10. Disappointingly short. I might be lenient if this were a WWE match, but this is ROH, and an iPPV no less. Less than 4 minutes clean is not acceptable. I also docked a bit for the aftermath because it wasn’t followed up on in any way at all, and I felt that MsChif getting up that quickly made Death Rey’s new finisher look bad.

ROH WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: The Kings of Wrestling(c) (w/Shane Hagadorn) vs. The All Night Express (Kenny King & Rhett Titus)- 7.75/10

2 OUT OF 3 FALLS MATCH FOR THE ROH WORLD TV TITLE: Christopher Daniels(c) vs. Eddie Edwards- 8.25/10

THE BRISCOE BROTHERS vs. WRESTLING’S GREATEST TAG TEAM (Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin)- 8/10. Slightly disappointing for a dream match.

Overall, while this show was definitely good, it was also disappointing. It felt very underwhelming for an iPPV, which ROH has so far managed to do a great job of making into very big deals (it is, IMO the worst of the ROH iPPV’s so far, by a lot).
