Going into the PPV: My thoughts

What can I say about this that hasn't already been said? Macho vs Flair/ Hogan vs Sid (which I think, also had the return of the Warrior), Bret vs. Piper, and Jake vs Taker. I'm genuinely looking forward to watching this PPV.

Can I just say, before we get into any matches, I sincerely miss the "Vince McMahon narrated card run downs" of old school WWF, it all just sounded so dynamic.

"El Matador" Tito Santana vs Shawn Micheals w/Sherri Martel

-Hooray! The Sherri version of Sexy Boy
- The pacing is weird in this match. It went fast for about a sequence and then REST Hold
- The best part of this match is the freakin banshee in the crowd who hates HBK, "YOU'VE GOT WHAT YOU DESERVE SHAWN"
-Legit shocked at how over Santana is.
- HBK sold a Forearm by slamming his head into the mat, Jesus christ.
HBK wins with a cheap pin, and Santana just gets out of the ring like a loser

6.75/10
The LOD come out to the ring with Paul Ellering for an interview. He gives us a brief history of the LOD, saying the honor and revenge unites the three of them. Animal calls Jimmy Hart scum. Hawk takes the mic and says the team is truly back together with Ellering.

Jake the Snake says he enjoys trapping Taker in the casket and DDT Bearer. He says that all that was foreplay and the he will hit him with the DDT when the time comes.
And now we get to one of my top 5 Streak matches of all time.

Jake the Snake Eoberts vs The Undertaker w/ Paul Bearer

-Jake showcases a speed advantage early, which I liked
-OOOH, the knee by Roberts.
-After taking a pounding, Roberts hits a DDT on Robets, and Taker sits right up, which was huge because no one had ever gotten up from it. Another DDT!
- Jake goes to take out Paul but Taker hits him with a tombstone outside of the ring, and rolls him back in for the pin and win.
7/10 for the finish, and making the Undertaker look good.
Piper and Bret Hart cut a promo together, Piper rants, whereas Bret is very simplistic, just wanting Roddy's belt. I liked it, but I hate Roddy's crazy promo style.

Roddy Piper vs Bret Hart for the IC Title

-Very technical match that eventually turns to a brawl
-Roddy teases a ring bell shot when the ref is out, but doesn't do it.
-Bret reverses a Sleeper to a pin, Roddy hands Bret the belt when he gets the pin.
8/10

The Nasty Boys, The Mountie, and Repo Man vs Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs Virgil vs The Big Bossman vs Vergil

- "Who in the WORLD is going to protect your noses" -Virgil
- Some Family Feud host insults all the heels to start the match on ring announcing.
- One comical moment is Repo drops all of his weight on Big Bossman's back, Bossman flips over and punches Repo in the nads
4/10

Perfect and Flair cut an amazing promo. I think Mr.Perfect wants a threesome with Elizabeth and Flair
"You have one shot at Space Mountain Elizabeth"
"Can I come with you Ric? HAHAHAHA"

Macho Man Randt Savage vs Ric Flair

-I liked how this one started with Savage slamming flair's head into the mat like an insane person.
-Great drama
-Why didn't the match get thrown out when Perfect broke up the pin
-Ooooh nice chair shot to the ribs from outside the ring, why don't we see more of those.
-Why are the agents trying to convince Elizabeth to leave the ringside area? She's been a manager for several years at this point.
-Kind of a pointless post match segment- Elizabeth should've knocked Flair out with the slap, and had Savage hit the Elbow drop. The brawl made Macho look weak
8/10
Post match interviews indicate everyone's pissed at one another.
-Great video package showing just how brutal Sid Justice is going to be in his match

Rick Martel vs Tatanka

Okay, so, this match is on AFTER the WWE Title match
- Way quick of a match
4/10

Money Inc w/ Jimmy Hart vs Natural Disasters for the tag team titles

-This could've been a great revenge storyline.but it ended on a deliberate count out.
4/10

Owen Hart vs Skinner

-This match lasted all of 30 seconds, wtf is with all these random squashes? Did Hulk Hogan get stuck in the toilet.
1/10

Sycho Sid vs Hulk Hogan

-And immediately Hogan makes Sid look like a knob by hitting him a bunch and throwing him out of the ring.
-And it happens again *yawn*
-I looked away from this match to chat up a girl and missed a resthold in that 15 minute period
-Hulk Hogan powers out of a powerbomb, and Whuppleman breaks up a legdrop
- Shango came down and beat up Hogan and then Warrior came down and saved the day hooray
2/10

Final thoughts

This PPV could've ended at Savage/Flair and it would've been one of my favorite Manias. However, there was about as many garbage unadvertised matches as there were advertised matches. That, and Sid didn't come off as powerful as he was in the video packages, in fact, coming off as rather week. But I would still say, check this baby out when you get a chance at it.
