Money in the Bank match CM Punk vs. Mark Henry vs. Finlay vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. MVP vs. Kofi Kingston vs Christian vs Kane
-It bothers me that Kingston Boom Dropped the ladder 10 minutes in, why would you hurt yourself like that?
-I liked how the smaller guys immediately set to get the briefcase after eliminating Kane
-Popped for the Finlay Suicide Dive.
-Why did everyone fall down for the Hornswoggle dive spot?
I give a 6.5 out of 10. Everyone tried their hardest but it wasn't as good as even more current MITB matches.
During the Fan Axxess video package, they cut to a guy in a Christian Cage shirt
It pisses me off that there's a Kid Rock concert mid-WM. I'm sure as a casual fan, it was cool to watch dudes fall off a ladder and then have a concert right after, but as someone who was hype for wrestling....no. But in Kid's defense, he did better than P. Diddy a couple years back, and "All Summer Long" has a special place in my heart.
DIVA'S BATTLE ROYAL
-And Kelly Kelly pauses to air grind on Kid Rock like a whore
-Some girl got eliminated during Justin Roberts explaining the rules, poor girl
-Oh dear God it's Santina Marella. I had repressed that, thanks WWE Network
-Lawler marking out for Sunny, ewwwww.
-That one girl F'ed up a, Hrricanrana over the rope spot and landed before Jillian did.
-It kinda makes me sad that you only knew who was in the Battle Royal after they'd gotten eliminated, like Molly Holly and Victoria
-I love how the announcers had to pretend like they couldn't recognize Santino in a wig
-Man Mickie was over.
-I love how Beth, who was his on screen boyfriend ALSO had to pretend she didn't recognize Santino in a wig.
-As s**t as this was, you have to give Santino props for working it.
0.5-10
Chris Jericho vs Steamboat, Piper, and Snuka w/Flair
-Flair kinda buried Jericho by calling him someone who is never HOF material. Jericho on the other hand was beautiful in the build up.
-When they panned to Mickey Rorke he looked visibly uncomfortable at being in an actual wrestling show
-Special award goes out to Jimmy Superfly Snuka's titties
-Props to Piper for going over the top, but he hurt himself and he looked sad.
-And that was the worst dropkick I've ever seen
-And those were the worst palm strike punch combo I've ever seen
-This match makes me happy simply because Steamboat was in awesome shape
-Piper briefly forgot to fall down for the Enzuguri that took him out.
-The crowd was genuinely pissed that Jericho won
-Flair looked like he was in awesome ring shape then.
-Did they really just use this as a Mickey Rourke spot?
5.5/10 mostly out of infuriation that this wasn't Jericho vs Steamboat for 15 minutes
Matt vs. Jeff Extreme Rules
-I can't take this feud seriously at all, "I burned down your house and killed your dog Jeff"
- I liked the psychology of this match, with it just being a fight, plus the first ever dry-vac spot in wrestling.
-I also like how a lot of the spots originate from stuff being in the ring to begin with,, like the side effect on the chair.
-Yay trashcan on head spots
-Why did Matt go the "SWANTON" pose. You'd think if a wrestler "Didn't care about anyone" they wouldn't even bother to mock the crowd.
-Pissed that Matt won. Way to screw up the push of one of your top guys.
6/10, would've been a 7 if Jeff had won
Rey Mysterio vs JBL for the Intercontinental Champion
-Jim Ross made a terrible dud here, when Jerry was telling everyone about how Rey's attire was a tribute to Ledger's Joker, and Ross responded, "Well, Rey's career is alive and well King."-
-JBL did the worst Drop the Dime sell I've ever seen, scooting casually into position so Rey could splash him
Very entertaining, very funny and it gave way to some of the best matches of Rey's career against Dolph Ziggler
So 5/10
Undertaker vs. HBK
-Need I say more?
-I also think that Jim Ross should be acreditted for giving the most legit commentary of his career
9/10, probably would've been perfect if not for the dive that almost killed Taker.
Triple Threat Match for the World Title
Cena vs. Edge vs. Big Show
-Man, the Cena entrance was disconcerting
-Props to Big Show for sticking with the love triangle thing and dropping Edge on his crotch.
-The Fame Asser spot was cool
-The double clothesline of Big Show and immediate turn by Edge was amazing, as well as Big Show assisting the Catch Spear by Edge.
-Cena going into the crowd was a nice touch, nice way to get people hype about Cena on camera.
6.75/10 for some innovative Triple Threat spots
HoF class of 2009 was one of my favorite classes ever cause it was very Texas heavy, plus Finkel, Austin, and Steamboat
It was strange to see Steamboat in a suit after just having put on one of the matches of the night, Austin ripping off his tux and doing his entrance things was amazing.
Triple H vs Randy Orton WWE Title
-I've gotta say that this feud in general was one of my favorite Orton programs
-I think that the "If he gets DQed the champion loses the title. People would've paid to see HHH beat the tar out of Orton but "GOD DAMN IT YOU MUST FOLLOW THE RULES OF WRESTLING"
-Using the RKO/Pedigree as just a big move opposed to a big move added some dynamite to the match.
-In theory, couldn't the ref DQ Triple H for beating Orton's head into the announce table?
-The way this disintegrated into a Brawl, it may has well been a No DQ Match.
- Yeah, an emotionally charged feud in which one guy threatened to break another guy's neck, let's make it a regular match.
-You could hear a pin drop in the Reliant Center, holy s**t.
-WOO HOO, REST HOLD
-And mercifully my WWE Network app glitches out
I'd give it a 3/10, for killing the most emotionally charged feud with a attrocious booking and a straight up wrestling match
So, average PPV, entertaining throughout with a couple duds, a couple meh matches, a FANTASTIC Taker match, to the point where history will regard the event as something much better than it actually was, and an attrociously bad main event. In a weird way, the inconsistantcy is a fitting tribute to Wrestlemania.
