ROH Reclamation: Night 2 (7/13/2013)- Dearborn, MI

Yes, the name of this show is â€"Reclamation: Night 2,” not â€"Redemption: Night 2” as Kevin Kelly says right at the beginning. Not a good note to start things off on.

KYLE O’REILLY vs. TADARIUS THOMAS- 5.5/10
Kind of slow, for opener, especially between these two.

LEAH VON DUTCH PROMO- Very cute girl, very dull promo.

FOUR CORNER SURVIVAL MATCH: Athena vs. MsChif vs. Leah Von Dutch vs. Jenny Rose- 4.5/10
MsChif came out for this match dressed like Freddy. This was just weird and didn’t look or feel like something MsChif would do at all.
This match was eh, at best. Athena looked great and Jenny Rose’s performance certainly earned her at least another shot in my eyes, but my comments about Von Dutch from when I saw her last year in CHIKARA still stand: Her cuteness is inversely proportional to her wrestling skill.

After the match, Silas Young comes out and says that women don’t belong in a wrestling ring. Does anyone really give a crap about this sh*tty, uncreative sexist character Silas has going on? He is a good wrestler, but this lame gimmick just makes me want him off of my TV.

SILAS YOUNG vs. TOMASSO CIAMPA- 6.5/10
This whole weekend was supposed to be about reclaiming ROH’s honor (hence the name), but neither Nigel nor Kelly made any mention of Ciampa blatantly biting Silas during this match. I liked what they did with the finish, and Nigel not actually being able to overturn matches (which was established late last year), means this was actually two matches, rather than one… Kevin Kelly, of course, didn’t seem to realize this, even though Nigel made it quite clear.

BJ WHITMER PROMO- crap. He basically said â€"If I wear an Adam Cole t-shirt, I will be able to understand how he thinks because wearing his t-shirt will give me the sum of his knowledge and life experiences.”

ADAM COLE vs. BJ WHITMER- 5.75/10
Cole picks up the win after faking an injury, and then catching BJ in a Small Package. If you are going to do this finish, you should save it for someone like Jay Lethal or one of the American Wolves. There is no reason that Cole should need to cheat to beat BJ Whitmer. BJ is a fine midcarder, but nothing more than that, and a rising star main event guy like Cole should be able to beat a midcarder cleanly.

ANDY MUSCAT vs. MICHAEL BENNETT (w/Maria Kanellis)- 1.5/10
Snore. Maria wants Bennett to beat Muscat down after the match, but Rhino makes the save. Apparently Andy Muscat and Rhino are friends. Rhino cuts a promo trying to get over this whole â€"Maria is giving the orders now” angle, and it leads to…

RHINO vs. MICHAEL BENNETT (w/Maria Kanellis)- 6.5/10
The announcers kept putting over the fact that Maria is apparently now calling the shots and Bennett is p*ssy-whipped, but she doesn’t seem to be doing anything that any other manager wouldn’t do.

BOBBY FISH vs. ACH- 7.5/10
A great match, but the finish was abrupt. I really wish this could have gotten another ten minutes.

KEVIN STEEN vs. MATT TAVEN (w/Truth Martini & the Hoopla Hotties)- 4.75/10
A very fun match with the crowd getting exactly what they wanted out of Steen, which was attitude. He was very rude to the Hoopla Hotties, mocked the referee, and worked over Taven’s scrotum. The problem here was that Taven pretty much got destroyed, which is totally unacceptable for a champion.

Steen is unhappy with the finish (a distraction from Truth led to Taven rolling Steen up for the win) so he wants to fight Truth. Nigel decides to punish Truth by booking him in a match against Steen right here, right now. Truth runs off, so Nigel goes to chase him, and eventually brings him back to the ring.

KEVIN STEEN vs. TRUTH MARTINI- no rating, decent segment
This goes exactly how you would expect: Steen kicks Truth’s ass, Truth gets the advantage by cheating, Steen fights back and kills him.

reDRagon PROMO- good
THE AMERICAN WOLVES vs. MICHAEL ELGIN & JAY LETHAL- 8.25/10
We get some pointlessly confrontational handshakes to start off, but after that tensions settled back down to where they should have been: Four awesome wrestlers having a tag team match. Elgin and Lethal showed a surprising amount of cohesion here. I could definitely get behind them as a tag team at some point. The match was awesome, but I think everyone expected that. Really a show-shaving match, in some ways, as everything aside from Fish vs. ACH had been pretty lackluster.

Overall, a very good show by ROH which got over the whole â€"Honor lives again” thing they were going for. Definitely worthy picking up.
