CHIKARA The Thirteenth Hat (1/28/2012)-Easton, PA
ULTRAMANTIS AND HALLOWICKED GO TO DELIRIOUS’ LAIR TO FREE HIM FROM MIND CONTROL WITH THE EYE OF TYR- GREAT segment.
It really didn’t come off as much until the very end, when Delirious â€"I REMEMBER EVERYTHING!†then runs away. Delirious talking coherently really felt like a huge moment.
MIKE QUACKENBUSH vs. GREEN ANT- 7.5/10
Yeah, this is one I am going to be watching again and again and again. An absolutely FANTASTIC display of mat wrestling (with a counter to the cloverleaf that will make your jaw drop).
DASHER HATFIELD INTRODUCES MR. TOUCHDOWN-
During the last match Gavin predicted the Green Ant would be the breakout star of the year in CHIKARA. In Gavin’s defense, he hadn’t yet seen Mr. Touchdown. Anyway, Dasher is being babyface but Touchdown grabs the mic from him and talks himself up. A great way to introduce us to Mr. Touchdown and to get over his heelish arrogance.
JIGSAW vs. KOBALD- 4.5/10
ICARUS PROMO- good.
GRAN AKUMA vs. ICARUS- no rating. Decent segment.
They wrestle for a few minutes until we get a double count-out (in part due to Gregory Iron showing up and distracting Icarus). After the match, Iron slaps Akuma.
DONST & JAKOB PROMO- they claim that the BDK is still going strong. Jakob says that things will be even better when Ares comes back, but Donst slaps him for it.
3.0 vs. TIM DONST & JAKOB HAMMERMEIER-4/10
Jakob running back behind the curtain for a proper entrance after announcing himself never fails to crack me up.
HALLOWICKED vs. ARCHIBALD PECK (w/Veronica)- 6.5/10
Archie offers to help Veronica up onto the apron but she snubs him. A good match that shows off Archie’s in-ring skills, rather than his comedy (don’t worry. The comedy is in there. Archie is basically a living cartoon character).
OPHIDIAN PROMO- his new mask is pretty ugly. He now carries around his old mask and Amasis’ mask (which he took off of him at High Noon) and says that they whisper to him. Someone needs to take a long vacation at the crazy farm. The souls in the masks have told him that he must wins tonight’s match by submission.
HIERACON vs. OPHIDIAN- 7/10
After the match Ophidian takes Hieracon’s mask.
VIN GERARD & EDDIE KINGSTON SEGMENT- Vin Gerard shows up so Eddie Kingston goes after him. Security restrains Kingston and Bryce forces Vin to leave. Kingston then demands that Wink reinstate Vin Gerard but Wink won’t do it.
THE BATIRI (Obariyon & Kodama) vs. THE COLONY (Fire Ant & Soldier Ant)- 6.75/10
Overall, an okay show from CHIKARA, and without the awesome opener between Quack and Green Ant it would be much worse.
