PWG DDT4 2008: Night 1 (5/17/2008)- Burbank, CA
HOOK BOMBERRY vs. NEMESIS- 4/10
2.0 PROMO- great!
DDT4 FIRST ROUND MATCH: Los Luchas vs. 2.0- 6.5/10
A good showing for 2.0 in their PWG debut
TJ PERKINS PROMO- expositional, but snore-inducing
CANDICE LERAE vs. TJ PERKINS (w/Hook Bomberry)- 6/10
A very good match with just beautiful selling by Candice.
DDT4 FIRST ROUND MATCH: Jack Evans & Roderick Strong vs. Scorpio Sky & Ronin- 5.75/10
DDT4 FIRST ROUND MATCH: Joey Ryan & Scott Lost vs. KAGETORA & El Blazer- 6.75/10
Slow at first but really picked up at the end.
AUSTIN ARIES vs. JAY BRISCOE- 7/10
Great pace, and Jay's nose get busted at the end.
DDT4 FIRST ROUND MATCH FOR THE PWG WORLD TAG TEAM TITLES: Kevin Steen & El Generico(c) vs. Davey Richards & Super Dragon- 8/10
There was a lot of hate here, as they started brawling right off the bat. Neither team has been featured much so far this year, so I'm not sure if this is just left over hatred from Steen vs. Super Dragon back in 2005 or if there was something more to this, but either way this was an awesome match. Super Dragon in particular did a great job. Every little thing he did just made me want to see Steen and Generico kick the crap out of him.
POST-MATCH SEGMENT WITH STEEN & EXCALIBUR- Excalibur calls Steen out for not being around very often recently and threatens to strip him and Generico of the belts. Steen says he hasn't been around because he was taking care of his wife and newborn son. Excalibur calls Steen's baby ugly and says that Steen doesn't care about PWG so Steen hits Excalibur with a few Package Piledrivers, then has puts his six month old son on top of the unconscious Excalibur and Generico counts the pin. I guess the point of this was to start a feud between Steen and Excalibur, and the crowd was definitely into it, but it was just really odd to watch.
Overall, a good show from PWG, but certainly not worth going out of your way to see. Not a particularly impressive start for DDT4 2008.
