ROUND ROBIN TOURNAMENT FOR A DDT4 BERTH MATCH: The Young Bucks vs. Scorpio Sky & Ronin- 5.75/10
Spotty but slow-paced.
KAZARIAN PROMO- okay
KARL ANDERSON PROMO- corny
PWG WORLD TITLE TOURNAMENT MATCH: Karl Anderson vs. Frankie Kazarian- 6.25/10
Anderson’s earlier promo really just made me not give a damn about him, but he did get good heat from the crowd (although they didn’t actually see the promo, so maybe that’s why).
ROUND ROBIN TOURNAMENT FOR A DDT4 BERTH MATCH: Los Luchas vs. TJ Hooker (TJ Perkins & Hook Bomberry)- 5.75/10
Very similar to the opener.
DAFFNEY vs. CANDACE LERAE- 4/10
A short match, but very good technical wrestling. Human Tornado jumps Candace after the match, but Necro Butcher comes out to make the save, transitioning into…
PWG WORLD TITLE TOURNAMENT MATCH: Necro Butcher vs. Human Tornado- 4.5/10
This started off with Necro charging down to the ring to save Candace and violently throwing Tornado all around the place… and three minutes later they decide to do shots together and sip beers at the bar in the middle of the match? How does that make sense?
From there they go to the ring, sit down, and decide to have a punches vs. pimp slaps contest, then decide to go back to being serious? There was some BRUTAL chairshots in here (and, for some unexplained reason, no DQs for them), and Necro sold beautifully, but the pointless and (IMO) unfunny attempt that comedy took away from it.
HUMAN TORNADO PROMO- okay
INCOHERENCE PROMO- it’s an Incoherence promo. They’re called â€"Incoherence†for a reason. Delirious singing the Beach Boys â€"California Girls†was amusing, though.
PWG WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: The Dynasty (Joey Ryan & Scott Lost)(c) (w/Jade Chung) vs. Incoherence (Delirious & Hallowicked)- 6.75/10
Fun comedy followed by good wrestling.
DYNASTY PROMO- kind of goofy, kind of awkward PWG-style promo, but it built towards their tag team title defense against the Briscoes at the next show.
KARL ANDERSON PROMO- okay. His stupid machine gun sound is kind of thing a nine year old would do in a promo.
THREE-WAY TOURNAMENT FINALS TO CROWN A NEW PWG WORLD CHAMPION: Roderick Strong vs. Karl Anderson vs. Human Tornado- 6.75/10
Roddy was given a bye into the finals because he was the #1 contender when title was vacated. They started out going full throttle, then slowed down a lot… which didn’t work because the match didn’t go much longer than ten minutes.
HUMAN TORNADO PROMO- okay
SCOTT LOST & CANDACE LERAE BACKSTAGE- nice piece of fluff that really got over the emotional trauma that Tornado’s abuse caused Candace. It made you feel sorry for Candace and made Scott Lost look like a jerk.
A very bad show from PWG. The fact that there were two different tournaments going on made the show feel very repetitive, and when you discount the short women’s match, you are left with a formula of tag-singles-tag-singles-tag-three way that also contributed to this feeling. Even clocking in at a very short one hour and forty-eight minutes, this show was hard to sit through. The lack of star power on the card left you with the feeling that the Tournament for the PWG Title was booked based on who could make it to show, rather than who were the top wrestlers in the company, and brining Kaz back for a random one-off only to job him out to Anderson in the first round added to this feeling, and consequently, Tornado winning the belt didn’t feel anywhere near as important as it should have. One of the worst PWG shows I have ever seen. Stay away from it. All you need to know about this show is that Tornado won the title.
