PWG All-Star Weekend VI: Night 2 (1/6/2008)- Van Nuys, CA

KARL â€"MACHINE GUN” ANDERSON vs. ALEX KOSLOV- 4/10

CHRIS HERO vs. EDDIE KINGSTON- 4.5/10
They did some very weird fighting spirit stuff here which I didn’t like (stuff like Hero no-swelling the Kobashi-style chops in the corner), and the match never seemed to get out of second gear.

THE YOUNG BUCKS vs. JIMMY JACOBS & TYLER BLACK- 6.75/10

#1 CONTENDERSHIP BEST OUT OF 3 SERIES MATCH #2: Jack Evans vs. Roderick Strong- 6.75/10
The standard story you would expect between these two: Jack wants to do his high-flying offense and Roddy wants to see how many unnatural shapes he can bend Jack’s back into. I really liked that Jack didn’t use any sentons during his entire comeback in order to sell that Roddy had damaged his back a lot, and once Jack did go for a Senton and missed, it was all over for him. Good storytelling.

CHRIS HERO IS BARRED FROM RINGSIDE: Candace LeRae vs. Human Tornado- decent match, great segment
They told a great story with Tornado not taking Candace seriously and Candace focusing her offense on Tornado’s scrotum (yes, Tornado actually sells some low blows in this match). This was really more of a segment than a match, but it did get some time and had some good nearfalls, but we never got an announced finish and it kind of transformed into…

NERCO BUTCHER vs. CLADUIO CASTAGNOLI- 6/10
Early in the match, there was a pinfall attempt on the outside, but this wasn’t billed as a falls coutn anywhere match, so I have no idea why that happened.

EL GENERICO vs. SOSUMO YOKOZUNA- 8/10

MUSCLE OUTLAW’Z (Masato Yoshino & Naruki Doi) vs. ARROGANCE (Scott Lost & Joey Ryan) (w/Jade Chung)- 7.25/10
THAT is Jade Chung? Wow. I didn’t recognize her without a lot of clothes on and without Jimmy Rave’s feet on her back.
(As a hilarious aside, when I was typing â€"clothes on” in the previous sentence, I had originally typed â€"clothesline” just out of instinct, and actually had to stop myself from doing so again in this sentence, which is specifically in here to poke fun at myself doing it in the other sentence. #I write about wrestling too much)

SUPER DRAGON vs. TARO- 7/10
If you don’t know the history between these two (and it seems that PWG doesn’t, as I seem to remember them having a Mask vs. Mask match at some point back in Revolution Pro), you would think that Taro owes Super Dragon a lot of money. Aside from the usual Super Dragon stiffness, he hit him with a freakin’ SUPER GANSO BOMB!

WINNER GETS CIMA’S PWG WORLD TITLE SHOT: CIMA vs. Bryan Danielson- 8/10
Awesome main event.

Overall, a great show from PWG.
