TNA Against All Odds 2006 (2/12/2006)- Orlando, FL
Pre-show:
RON â€"THE TRUTH†KILLINGS vs. A-1- DUD!
What the hell is the point of doing the match if it is only going to go two minutes?
JAMES MITCHELL PROMO- standard James Mitchell awesomeness.
SHARK BOY, LANCE HOYT, & CASSIDY RILEY vs. SHANNON MOORE & THE DIAMONDS IN THE ROUGH (w/Simon Diamond)- 4.75/10
Good little story with Shannon Moore.
JEFF JARRETT, SCOTT D’AMORE & ERIC YOUNG BACKSTAGE- good
Main Show:
AUSTIN ARIES & RODERICK STRONG vs. THE NATURALS- 6/10
Good opener
HEELS BACKSTAGE- good. Larry Z coming in and telling them that if anyone interfered in the main event they would be fired got a great pop.
ALEX SHELLEY vs. JAY LETHAL vs. PETEY WILLIAMS vs. MATT BENTLEY (w/Traci)- 6.5/10
Some people might not like this finish but I think they did a great job with it.
RHINO PROMO- good
THE JAMES GANG vs. LAX (Homicide & Machette) (w/Konnan)- 4.5/10
I wasn’t fond of an armed Konnan running away from 66 year old â€"Bullet†Bob Armstrong.
SLICK JOHNSON & LARRY Z BACKSTAGE- established that we will have a mystery referee. Um… okay. Didn’t know this was part of the build for this match.
NWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: America’s Most Wanted(c) (w/Gail Kim) vs. Sonjay Dutt & Chris Sabin- 6.75/10
JEFF JARRETT & MONTY BROWN BACKSTAGE- okay
FALLS COUNT ANYWEHRE MATCH: Rhino vs. Abyss (w/James Mitchell)- 8.5/10
FREAKIN’ AWESOME! Tons of violence, some awesome nearfalls, and a sick finish.
SAMOA JOE PROMO- GREAT!
TNA X-DIVISION TITLE MATCH: Samoa Joe(c) vs. AJ Styles vs. Christopher Daniels- 8.5/10
Awesome match. They did a great job of using all three men rather than using two guys while one takes a break, as many triple threat matches become. AJ and Daniels cooperation here also plants the seeds for the tag team they would form in the spring.
BROTHER RAY PROMO- GREAT!
TEAM 3-D vs. TEAM CANADA (Bobby Roode & Eric Young) (w/Scott D’Amore)- 6.5/10
CHRISTIAN CAGE PROMO- GREAT!
NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH IN WHICH ANYONE WHO INTERFERES WILL BE FIRED: Jeff Jarrett(c) (w/Gail Kim) vs. Christian Cage- 7.25/10
They went a bit overboard on the ref bumps, IMO. Gail Kim interfered in this match multiple times but never wound up getting fired, proving that even when TNA is great, it is still TNA. Christian winning the belt for the first time was a great moment, though.
