TNA Final Resolution 2006 (1/15/2006)- Orlando, FL

Pre-show:
JAY LETHAL, KENNY KING, & LANCE HOYT vs. TEAM CANADA (Petey Williams, Eric Young, & A-1)- 5/10

THE NATURALS vs. LAX (Homicide & Konnan)- 3.25/10
A short match and the shoulder was clearly up for the pin.

Main show:
ALEX SHELLEY, AUSTIN ARIES, & RODERICK STRONG vs. CHRIS SABIN, SONJAY DUTT, & MATT BENTLEY (w/Traci)- 6/10
Good, action-packed opener.

THE JAMES GANG vs. THE DIAMONDS IN THE ROUGH (w/Simon Diamond)- 4/10
A good solid win for the James Gang only marred by the following:
Kip James â€"I’ve got three words for ya: Get it? Got it? Good.”
I facepalmed.

CHRISTOPHER DANIELS PROMO- awesome

AJ STYLES vs. HIROSHI TANAHASHI- 7/10
Shannon Moore is a jerk

RAVEN PROMO- awesome

NO DISQUALIFICATION MATHC IN WHICH IF RAVEN WINS, HE GETS AN NWA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE SHOT, IF WALTMAN WINS, RAVEN MUST LEAVE TNA: Raven vs. Sean Waltman- 6.25/10

RON KILLINGS & KONNAN BACKSTAGE- AMAZING! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!

RAVEN, LARRY Z, & JACKIE GAYDA OUTSIDE- Interesting segment. Charlie Haas is a very lucky man.

RON â€"THE TRUTH” KILLINGS vs. BOBBY ROODE (w/Scott D’Amore)- 5.5/10

AFTERMATH- GREAT! The break-up of the 3 Live Kru has been just plain awesome. Amazing execution on this angle. Props to all four guys!

JAMES MITCHELL PROMO- GREAT!

RHINO vs. ABYSS (w/James Mitchell)- 5.5/10
Apparently this was a No DQ’s match. They probably should have announced that.

TEAM 3-D PROMO-
Shane Douglas needs to brush up on his history. Team 3-D was not, as Shane claimed, â€"forged in the fires of WCW.”

NWA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: America’s Most Wanted(c) (w/Gail Kim) vs. Team 3-D- 6/10
I wasn’t happy with the babyfaces going for weapons in a regular match and the ref just seemed ridiculously ineffectual here. Like he wasn’t even trying to stop people from cheating. The miscommunication spot seemed ridiculously forced, and the finish was idiotic. The ref can see that someone’s shoulders are down… but he can’t tell whose? This match was way too damn gimmicky. It should have just been a nice, long regular tag team match. They didn’t need to resort to miscommunication spots, tables, and powder. If the heels have to retain, just have them cheat do so. Once. One bit of cheating at the end of the match is all you need.

JEFF JARRETT & MONTY BROWN PROMOS-
If you will indulge my tangent for a moment: On the Gabe’s Book of ROH Secrets DVD put out by Kayfabe Commentaries, Gabe says that he always found it cool when you have little, seemingly innocuous moments that, when you look back on them in hindsight, are actually the start of something (Gabe uses the example of Necro Butcher kissing his super-pregnant wife at ringside before his match at one of the ROH shows in the spring of 2008 as the point where the motivations of Necro’s babyface character and eventually face turn in the summer of 2008 actually started). I think Jeff Jarrett’s promo here was one of those moments. It was a slight factor in tonight’s match, and didn’t pop up again for months, but I think this promo did a great job of foreshadowing the interactions between Sting and Christian throughout the summer, ultimately ending in Christian’s heel turn.
Monty’s promo on the other hand… it wasn’t bad, per se, but the seriousness of it was underminded by a horrible, horrible Bugs Bunny impersonation.

TNA X-DIVISION TITLE MATCH: Samoa Joe(c) vs. Christopher Daniels- 7.25/10
I absolutely LOVED the finish here, aside from the spot with the chair. Joe should have been DQed for using it, which would have ended his undefeated streak. Why not have the ref move the chair out of the way as Joe goes for the Muscle Buster on it, then have that infuriate Joe, leading to Joe going for the vicious kicks and knees, leading to AJ throwing in the towel? The way that they did it just makes the referee look dumb because he is spending more time yelling at Joe than trying to get the weapon out of the ring.

CHRISTIAN CAGE PROMO- awesome!

CHRISTIAN CAGE & STING vs. â€"THE ALPHA MALE” MONTY BROWN & JEFF JARRETT (w/Gail Kim)- 8.25/10
AWESOME match! They knew what the crowd wanted here and they gave it to them. The heels got GREAT heat on Christian, and the pop for Sting getting the hot tag is one of the loudest I have ever heard at the Impact Zone. There were one or two great nearfalls in here, and Sting destroying Jarrett’s guitar with his baseball bat is one of the most awesome spots I have ever seen.

Overall, a great show from TNA. In particular, the backstage promos here were amazing, and Sting’s return is just a great moment. A must-have for any TNA fan and any Sting fan.
