TNA Bound For Glory 2012 (10/14/2012)- Phoenix- AZ
TNA X-DIVISION TITLE MATCH: Zema Ion(c) vs. Rob Van Dam- 4.75/10
Ion did some cool stuff, but the match didn't feel as big as it should have. I think giving this match five more minutes would have really helped make Ion.
MAGNUS PROMO- okay
TNA TV TITLE MATCH: Samoa Joe(c) vs. Magnus- 6/10
BOOBY ROODE PROMO- good
STREET FIGHT WITH KING MO AS THE SPECIAL GUEST ENFORCER: James Storm vs. Robert Roode- 8.5/10
Awesome, vicious, and brutal. Exactly what this needed to be, and they actually used King Mo well! I am just wondering why it was put so early in the card (especially if they were going to destroy the Spanish announce table).
JOEY RYAN PROMO- GREAT!
IF RYAN WINS, HE GETS A TNA CONTRACT: Al Snow vs. Joey Ryan- DUD!
This match made Joey look extremely weak. The retired Al Snow out-wrestles Joey, Joey only gets the advantage because Al went to get an illegal weapon for no reason, then Joey only wins because of Matt Morgan? Wasn't the whole point of this thing that Joey was good enough to get a contract but the judges didn't like his attitude?
I really didn't like Taz' commentary here. He kept saying that Joey has improved since his Gut Check match, and that Joey was wrestling differently, etc. Joey was wrestling no differently here than he was in his Gut Check match. It felt like Taz really didn't get the angle.
Joey kissed Head. Okay. His tongue is not the part of his body I would have assumed Joey Ryan would have wiped all over Head, but this is probably better for my brain.
Oh, and after all of that trouble with Aces & Eights, Matt Morgan jumps a guardrail and there is no security at all? None at ringside and none backstage that comes rushing out to arrest him? And if Hogan locked down the Impact Zone against Aces & Eights, and he knew that Matt Morgan had been jumping guardrails and attacking people, shouldn't he have told security not to let Morgan in, too?
KAZ & DANIELS PROMO- I didn't like it.
TRIPLE THREAT MATCH FOR THE TNA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLES: Christopher Daniels & Kazarian(c) vs. Kurt Angle & AJ Styles vs. Chavo Guerrero Jr. & Hernandez- 7.25/10
TNA KNOCKOUTS' TITLE MATCH: Miss Tessmacher(c) vs. Tara- 1.5/10
THAT'S IT?! Tessmacher basically got squashed here! BOOOO!!!!!
TARA'S BOYFRIEND IS JESSE GODDERZ- sure. Why not?
STING STUFF- I didn't like the feel of this. It made it feel like the created the TNA HOF just so for the sake of honoring Sting. I think a more WWE-style thing with one guy inducting him and then Sting speaking would have been better.
NO DISQUALIFICATION MATCH IN WHICH IF ACES & EIGHTS WIN, THEY GET FULL ACCESS TO THE IMPACT ZONE, BUT IF BULLY RAY & STING WIN, ACES & EIGHTS GO AWAY FOREVER: Sting & Bully Ray vs. Two Guys From Aces & Eights- 4.25/10
Well I'll be damned! There was no swerve here at all!
Anyway, this was an okay match, nothing more, and it had several logical problems, and absolutely f*cking horrendous aftermath.
First of all... weeks of torture didn't make Joseph Park hulk-out (in the Bruce Banner sense, not the traditional wrestling sense), but having someone spit in his direction does? Not going to lie; I had totally forgotten about that aspect of the character and did pop when he broke free, but then my brain kicked in I realized how little damn sense it made. Also, Joseph Park has been held hostage for weeks... but apparently Aces & Eights decided to let him shave?
Secondly, TNA has made a huge deal out of how getting rid of Aces & Eights is so important and how it unifies the entire roster... yet when Aces & Eights start sending extra guys in, NOT ONE WRESTLER comes to back up Sting & Bully? Really? And then after the match, when more Aces & Eights guys show up and they start beating down Sting, who TNA just made a whole big deal about how much of a legend he is and how nice he is and what a leader he is... STILL NO ONE COMES TO HELP HIM aside from Hogan?
Then, one at a time, each of the Aces & Eights guys charge at Hogan, a 59 year old man who has had multiple major back surgeries in the past few years... and are all taken out with one punch. Hogan then beats up the leader of Aces & Eights and Sting holds him while Hogan unmasks him, revealing him to be...
JINKIES!
It's Devon. What a complete and total surprise (because putting someone through a table with Devon's finish didn't give it away). Anyway... it's Devon. Yes. That's right. Devon. Um... okay...
Anyway, now that Hogan & Sting have the man responsible for causing so much havoc, assaulting both of them and various members of their roster, menacing Brooke Hogan, and kidnapping and torturing Joseph Park, call the cops and take him into custody.
Whoops. No. Sorry. That is what they would have done if this sh*t made any sense. Instead, THEY JUST LET HIM GO!? WHAT THE F*CK?!
What's even worse is that, creatively, there was no reason for this at all. Aces & Eights just got full access to the Impact Zone. That is a major event in this story (in theory, anyway). You already have one major thing at this show, so why not save the unmasking for the next PPV (plus, if they wanted one of these guys to be Devon, this would give them a good month ?
AUSTIN ARIES PROMO- good
TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE MATCH: Austin Aries(c) vs. Jeff Hardy- 8/10
Awesome match, although I am very disappointed about the result. It wasn't time for Aries to lose the belt yet. He had so much more mileage in him. Big mistake here by TNA. Beating Aries doesn't help Hardy anywhere near as much as beating Hardy would help Aries.
Overall, a good show from TNA, but mostly on the strength of Roode vs. Storm and Aries vs. Hardy. As far as Bound For Glory's go, this one was slightly disappointing.
