3PW's Debut Show (2/15/2002)- Philadelphia, PA

PROMO BY VANDAL’S MANAGER- good promo to let us know who is the heel and who is the face in this match.

CHRIS HAMRICK vs. MATT VANDAL (w/a manager whose name I didn’t catch)- 5/10
Hamrick has Vandal down and grabs his legs, teasing a stomp to the groin. The referee warns him not to. Hamrick keeps teasing it and the referee warns him not to. Hamrick finally unleashes a whole series of stomps to the groin, and the referee starts counting for Hamrick to break it up, like he is asking for a clean break in the corner or something. WTF?! This is a LOW BLOW! It is about the dirtiest for of cheating there is, and it is extremely debilitating. You don’t count for a break like it’s a f*cking fishhook or something! At a later point in the match, Valdal’s manager ran into the ring and broke up a pin. Either there are DQ’s or there aren’t. You can’t have it both ways depending on the situation. That confusion a side, not a bad match.

BILVIS WESLEY vs. TOWEL BOY- 5/10
Not a bad showing from either guy.

DYLAN NIGHT (w/Candi) vs. RAPID FIRE MALDONADO (w/Allison Danger)- 3.5/10
Maldonado (who I assumed was the babyface because Night jumped him) grabs the heels valet and forcibly kisses this clearly unwilling woman. Then he throws her to the referee… who also forcibly kisses her! Then the referee makes a big show of pointing to Danger and throws Candi over to Danger, who also forcibly kisses her. Not only do we have babyfaces forcing themselves on an unwilling heel, but we have a REFEREE DOING IT, TOO! Aside from the obvious moral problems here, if the babyfaces are going to do that, then why should I boo the heel a few minutes later when he grabs Danger, rubs her face into his crotch, and suggests that Allison regularly enjoys fellating him?

LITTLE GUIDO vs. THE PROTÉGÉ (w/a manager whose name I didn’t catch)- 6/10

SUPER HENTAI vs. SHIRLEY DOE- 6.25/10
This got â€"BORING” chants, but I have no idea why. They did some cool lucha-type stuff. Crowd seemed to want to poop on it going in.

ORION vs. THE BLUE MEANIE (w/Jasmin St. Claire)- 4/10
Meanie gets a dominant babyface win, but Orion still got some stuff in.

RIC BLADE, CHRISTIAN YORK, & JOEY MATTHEWS (w/Gorgeous George) vs. PAUL E. NORMOUS & THE GOLD BOND MAFIA (CM Punk & Colt Cabana) (w/Dave Prazak)- 7/10
Good pre-match promos by Prazak and Punk.
Lots of fun. Good babyface vs. heel stuff, some comedy from Punk & Cabana, and twisting crossbody from the top rope to the floor… BY DAVE PRAZAK! This show is a must-buy for Prazak fans.

AFTERMATH- decent.

SANDMAN vs. CROWBAR vs. STEVE CORINO- 7/10

As any random show, this was okay, but as the first show for a new promotion, this wasn’t good. Most of the guys didn’t get the chance to cut promos, so we had no reason to care about most of them. They just went out there and had eight to ten minute matches. The only things that felt like any sort of storyline were the stuff with Paul E. Normous and the Gold Bond Mafia, and the clearly tangible dislike between Danger and Candi.
Another problem this show had was the lack of announcing. As a new viewer, I had no idea that all of these matches were No DQ’s or whatever, so I was quite confused before I figured it out. Overall, not a good first show from 3PW.
