NJPW New Japan Road: Ganbarou! Uonuma 2016 (10/8/2016)- Uonuma, Japan

TERUAKI KANEMITSU vs. HIRAI KAWATO- 5.5/10
Very good young-boy match, but at the same time, you can only watch so many dropkicks and leg crabs in one match.

HIROYOSHI TENZAN, MANABU NAKANISHI, & JUSHIN “THUNDER” LIGER vs. TOGI MAKABE, TOMOAKI HONMA, & HENARE- 5.75/10

YOSHITATSU, JUICE ROBINSON, & RYUSUKE TAGUCHI vs. BULLET CLUB (Adam Cole, Bone Soldier, & Yujiro Takahashi)- 5.25/10
A very meh match. At someone actually got DQed for using a weapon and shoving a referee. It’s nice to see the rules actually enforced every once in a while.

reDRagon vs. YUJI NAGATA & TIGER MASK IV- 6.75/10

TOMOHIRO ISHII, HIROOKI GOTO, & THE BRISCOES vs. BULLET CLUB (Kenny Omega, Bad Luck Fale, & the Guerrillas of Destiny)- 6.75/10
Fun match. Heels win and beat the babyfaces down afterwards.

NEVER OPENWEIGHT SIX-MAN TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: Satoshi Kojima, Ricochet, & David Finlay Jr.(c) vs. CHAOS (Will Ospreay & Roppongi Vice)- 8.5/10
This was a lovely little hidden gem of a match. Young Mr. Finlay is developing into quite the babyface, and him getting the pin in this match felt like a big moment for him. It’s always a treat to watch Ricochet and Ospreay do their stuff together, Kojima was good in his role as a big babyface while Rocky was GREAT in his role as the cartoon heel who you love to watch get made to look silly. Also, Trent was in the match.

LOS INGOBERNABLES DE JAPON vs. HIROSHI TANAHASHI, MICHAEL ELGIN, JAY LETHAL, & KUSHIDA- 6.5/10
Disappointing for a match involving these eight guys, and I really don’t see what Tanahashi pinning Sanada just two days before the PPV match does for anyone. Or what doing this match just two days before doing the very same match on PPV does for anyone. There weren’t two other dudes they could have stuck in this match just to make it a little different and have someone who can take the fall.

A fun show from New Japan. Just make sure you see the NEVER Openweight Six-man Tag Team Title match.
