ROH Aftershock Tour: Philadelphia (8/21/2015)- Philadelphia, PA

ROH WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: The Addiction(c) (w/Chris Sabin) vs. The Young Bucks- 7/10
Great action with some good twists and turns at the end. I understand why they had the overbooking, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t hurt my enjoyment of the match.

ANGRY NIGEL PROMO- he announces that the Young Bucks have been added to the tag title match at All-Star Extravaganza VII. Nigel was good, as always, but he needs to brush up on his ROH history a bit because Christopher Daniels most certainly did not believe in honor during the early days of ROH.

ROH WORLD TITLE MATCH: Jay Lethal(c) (w/the House of Truth) vs. Roderick Strong- 8.5/10
Just as fantastic as it was on TV… which is a little disappointing because I was hoping that watching it sans commercials would make it even better, which it didn’t, but I’m still glad to now own it on DVD.

reDRagon vs. THE HOUSE OF TRUTH (w/Truth Martini & Jay Lethal)- 6.75/10
A little bit better than it was on TV.

CEDRIC ALEXANDER (w/Veda Scott) vs. DALTON CASTLE (w/the Boys)- 6.25/10
Silas Young is on commentary. He wound up causing a distraction that cost Castle the match. After the match, Stokely Hathaway came out and distracted Cedric so Moose could set up behind him and spear him when he turned around… so I guess we are supposed to tune in to the PPV to see the heel get revenge?

WAR MACHINE vs. THE KINGDOM (w/Maria Kanellis)- 6.25/10
Maria ran into the ring and pulled Hanson’s hair right in front of the referee but there was no DQ. She would later grab a hold of his leg in full view of the referee and the Kingdom was not DQed (she didn’t even get ejected from ringside). Other than that this match was fine, but not main event quality. The finish saw the Young Bucks come out to pull Maria off of the apron. This caused Bennett to be distracted, allowing War Machine to take the advantage and hit Fallout for the win. The wrong team went over here.

SILAS YOUNG vs. MICHAEL ELGIN- 6.75/10

CAPRICE COLEMAN vs. ACH- 6.5/10
Also a little better than on TV.

CORINO INTERVIEW CAPRICE ABOUT THE ENVELOPE HE GOT FROM PRINCE NANA- Caprice says it contained money and a letter, and after reading the letter many times and then having this match, he now gets it. Not quite sure what that means but hopefully it will be good.

HIROOKI GOTO & THE BRISCOES vs. CHAOS (Kazuchika Okada & Trent Barreta, Rocky Romero)- 8/10
Awesome.
Steve Corino mentioned Goto’s big pin over Okada in the G1 and how Goto is now in line for an IWGP Heavyweight Title shot. Well… as I sit here typing this four months later, said title match has still not happened yet. What’s the hold-up, Gedo?

MATT SYDAL vs. KUSHIDA- 7.75/10
GREAT match! Good work on the bodyparts and good selling by both guys, coupled with some fantastic spots.

FOUR CORNER SURVIVAL: Takaaki Watanabe vs. Will Ferrara vs. Moose (w/Stokely Hathaway) vs. Adam Page (w/the Decade)- 6.5/10
The fans LOVE Watanabe. The match was very fun and everyone got to show off their stuff.

ADAM COLE vs. SHINSUKE NAKAMURA- 9/10
A fantastic match. Even if I wasn’t a completionist, then having this match and the Roddy vs. Lethal match at my disposal would have been more than enough to make this show a must-buy for me.

An awesome show from ROH, especially for a TV taping, which is usually limited by time constraints. One of ROH’s best shows of the year (probably second or third) in a year where they have been consistently putting on awesome shows. Definitely something you should pick up.
One thing I found a little weird about this DVD was that you could tell exactly where the commercial breaks were, because neither of the announcers said anything during the breaks. It was a little disconcerting to hear the announcers talk, then just stop talking, then start talking again a few minutes later. But don’t let that stop you from buying this awesome show.
