BRM Reviews the 9/27/2012 Impact

OPENING SEGMENT- Hogan rambles down some business. His promo was decent (I like the idea of bringing King Mo in to be a troubleshooter in the Storm-Roode feud), aside from the part where he gets the chronology of the Aces & Eights feud HORRIBLY wrong. He says that first TNA caught the Aces & Eights guy, then Aces & Eights kidnapped Joseph Park (Hulk doesn't mention that he had sent Joseph to dig up dirt on them), and then Aces & Eights started coming after TNA employees. This is not only just plain ass-backwards, but it makes TNA look like the aggressors here!
Then Sting shows up and he says that he is going to the Aces & Eights clubhouse (which sounds so stupid when you say it out loud). Won't this endanger Joseph? Aces & Eights only asked for Hogan. Yeah, they didn't specifically say "come alone" but are these guys really people that you want to provoke with Joseph Park's life on the line?
KURT ANGLE (w/AJ Styles) vs. CHRISTOPHER DANIELS (w/Kazarian) vs. CHAVO GUERRERO (w/Hernandez)- 4.5/10
Chavo being pissed at Kurt for bumping into him when he went for a top rope move is ridiculous considering that he rolled Kurt up when Kurt had an Angle Lock locked in LESS THAN A MINUTE AGO!
DETERMINING THE TV TITLE MATCH SEGMENT 1- CRAP! The only decent part was the stuff between Joe and Magnus. Once again, Hogan's elimination makes NO SENSE WHATSOEVER!
BROOKE & TARA SEGMENT- Tara's stuff with her boyfriend wasn't bad, but we didn't need a segment with Brooke to do this. All we need is a camera guy to see her backstage. Brooke taking Tara's phone away was just dumb. What is this, kindergarten? And Tara just whining a bit and accepting Brooke taking her phone made Tara look pathetic. How the hell does that fit in with the woman who viciously attacked her best friend and tag team partner two weeks ago?
#1 CONTENDERSHIP MATCH: Tara vs. ODB (w/Eric Young)- 1/10
Let me get this straight: Tara wants a title shot but Brooke wants to punish Tara... so as punishment, Brooke puts Tara in a match where she can earn a title shot. WHAT?!
Anyway, this match just dragged on too long.
PRICHARD YELLS AT AL SNOW ABOUT JOEY RYAN- great!
THE JUDGES TALK BACKSTAGE- wow. This was actually great
BULLY RAY BACKSTAGE- GREAT!
DETERMINING THE TV TITLE MATCH SEGMENT 2- lame, but at least Garrett got eliminated.
AUSTIN ARIES & BOBBY ROODE BACKSTAGE- confusing, but I think it was good... kinda. At first Roode seemed to be saying that he wanted Jeff to win, but then he was saying that he wanted Jeff to lose.
MATCH TO CROWN A NEW TNA TV CHAMPION: Samoa Joe vs. Mr. Anderson- 6.25/10
I really wish they had given this more time. They really felt like they were in the middle of something great.
ACES & EIGHTS KIDNAP HOGAN & STING- I would have said that this was a great segment if not for one small flaw... Hogan signed the documents for Prichard WITHOUT READING THEM FIRST! The same Hulk Hogan who got Dixie Carter to sign TNA away to him THE SAME EXACT WAY just two years ago!
DOES EVAN MARKOPOULIS GET A TNA CONTRACT?- DUD! The reason that they didn't give this guy a contract was because he was 18? THEN WHY DID YOU BRING HIM IN THE FIRST PLACE?!
Al Snow said that Gut Check is all about guys like this, so why not sign this guy to some deal that says "when you are 21, come to us and we will sign you?" Why not sign him to some sort of limited time deal or a developmental deal or something?! If his age is the reason that you aren't giving him a contract, you shouldn't have brought him in in the first place!
So the Aces & Eights Clubhouse is just a short drive from the Impact Zone?
HOGAN & STING IN THE CLUBHOUSE- this was ridiculously lame, especially as just a set up for a match at BFG. What makes this even worse is that there really isn't anyone on the TNA Roster who fits into this spot who isn't doing something more important at BFG. They could bring Pope back, but everyone else who has had issues with Aces & Eights is already in a match at BFG (aside from Bully Ray, but I assume that they will add him to the main event.
Oh, and if Hogan is so concerned about Park's safety, why has he not called the cops yet?
JAMES STORM PROMO- very good
BOBBY ROODE & BULLY RAY vs. AUSTIN ARIES & JEFF HARDY- 6.75/10
Not good enough for a main event, but I'll give it a pass due to the storytelling. I think a better finish would have been Bubba pinning Aries to add to Bubba's case for being included in the main event at BFG.
Overall, this episode of Impact followed a simple formula: If a Hogan was involved, the segment sucked. If there were no Hogan's involved, it was great.
