BRM Reviews the 6/28/2012 Impact

AJ & DIXIE- it was what it was. At least it was short.
Tenay tells us that now all of the BFG Series matches will have a fifteen time limit. Good.
BOUND FOR GLORY SERIES MATCH: Mr. Anderson vs. Rob Van Dam- 6/10. Good opener
AUSTIN ARIES & BOBBY ROODE SEGMENT- okay. TNA does the obvious, logical, and best thing by having a tournament for the X-Division Title. Nothing particularly good on the promos, but not bad either.
CLAIRE LYNCH INTERVIEW, PART 1: The interviewer asks her “at what point did it get bad?” And silly me thought he was talking about the drug use, rather than the wrestling storyline.
DANIELS AND KAZ BACKSTAGE- good stuff from Kaz.
X-DIVISION TITLE TOURNAMENT FIRST ROUND MATCH: Sonjay Dutt vs. “Rubix”-5.5/10
JIGSAW!
This was an outstanding match for the time it was given
SONJAY DUTT PROMO- great
GUT CHECK JUDGES BACKSTAGE- this one actually wasn’t bad. Prichard annoyed me with his stupid logic, asking if someone would pay for a PPV because Taeler was on it. Thankfully Taz shot this stupid logic down.
BOUND FOR GLORY SERIES MATCH: Samoa Joe vs. Bully Ray- 5.5/10
Good match, but why is Joseph Park allowed to be backstage?
JOSEPH PARK PROMO- so now he doesn’t care about Abyss anymore? And why the hell is this guy allowed to start making challenges to people?
Taz and Tenay tell us that the phone call that Kaz and Daniels provided as evidence was doctored. They doctored it… and THAT was the best they could do? And for the cherry on top, during the Dixie and Claire interview they claim that the phone call was originally for a birthday party for Serg.
From my review of the the 5/31/2012 Impact:
HOGAN AND KAZ BACKSTAGE- bad. Kaz says he was being lied to by Daniels and doesn’t want to get in trouble for being misled. Hogan then tells him that he has to be held accountable for his actions… and in this case, that means having to team with Daniels tonight. WTF? I was pretty sure that Kaz was thinking more along the lines of “I don’t want Dixie to fire me!”
MADISON’S SECRET CRUSH- well… it’s not Garrett Bischoff, so that’s good
BROOKE HOGAN, TESSMACHER, & GAIL KIM SEGMENT- bad Brooke tells Gail “well you’re rematch is next week, so you had better take it seriously!” Umm… Gail has been trying to get that rematch for a few weeks now, so I’m pretty sure she’s taking it seriously. It’s not that Brooke has been used poorly. She is just a horrible actress.
X-DIVISION TITLE TOURNAMENT FIRST ROUND MATCH: Rashad Cameron vs. Mason Andrews- 5/10
Very good for the time it was given. I have never heard of either of these guys before, but after this match I am definitely going to want to find out more about them.
HOGAN, JAMES STORM, & JEFF HARDY SEGMENT- not good. Jeff asks about Sting, and Hogan says there is no one out there who would ever attack Sting like that. Really, Hulk? Bobby Roode immediately comes to mind. This segment was to hype up next week’s main event, a BFG Series match between Storm and Hardy. That was good, but what wasn’t good was Hogan omitting the word “series,” and thus accidentally announcing Hardy vs. Roode as the “Bound For Glory main event.”
TAELER HENDRIX AND THE JUDGES- JOEY RYAN! And Joey gets a bigger pop than Taeler did when she came out. Al Snow orders security to take Joey out of the arena. Where the hell was security a few weeks ago when Bully Ray was pulling Joseph Park over the guardrail?
Anyway, Taeler’s promo was more of the generic crap that we got from Alex Silva. Taeler gets the contract because they say that she had potential. Joey Ryan, the guy who has showed the most personality and did the best in his match, doesn’t get hired. And how important is it that Taeler got this contract? The only other guy to get a contract, Alex Silva… HASN’T BEEN ON TV AT ALL SINCE WINING HIS CONTRACT TWO MONTHS AGO!
With, supposedly, more time given to flesh out who Claire is, we still have no answer for the biggest question in this angle: why did AJ and Dixie feel the need for such secrecy that they were willing put their own reputations on the line… and that they even decided to not tell Serg?
TNA WORLD TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: AJ Styles & Kurt Angle(c) vs. Christopher Daniels & Kazarian- 6.75/10
They did a great spot in this match where Kurt went for the same double German Suplex spot from Slammiversary, but Kaz elbowed Daniels in the head so that Daniels would let go of him and only Daniels would be taken over for the suplex… and Taz and Tenay didn’t even mention it.
Not going to lie. I didn’t see the swerve coming. Not sure what the point of it was, but I didn't see it coming. Are we absolutely sure Russo is gone?
Daniels then claims that the baby is AJ’s. If he was lying about the affair, why are we supposed to believe that he is telling the truth about this?
Overall, a very good episode of Impact. Some of the segments were weak (especially the AJ-Daniels-Kaz-Dixie-Claire stuff), but the shown was good in the ring. It also hyped up both next week's show and Destination X decently well.

So they didn’t even succeed in making it sound like anything different than what it originally was!Big Red Machine wrote: yeah this sounds like they are planning a surprise party for Dixie’s husband.
