The 10h Anniversary Show main event did not get five stars from Meltzer (I'm not sure what it did get, but it wasn't five). I actually liked this match a lot more than Davey & Kyle vs. Eddie & Adam, and I thought that this was the better match. With the 10th Anniversary Show main event, I had no idea who would get the pin on who. In this match, I came into it with every expectation that Davey would win, and they managed to convince that the opposite would happen at several different points during the match.badnewzxl wrote:really? 5 stars for that match? It was great and all, but I'm not sure if it crossed into that realm! I don't think it was better than the main event from the 10th Anniversary Show (that didn't get 5 Stars, did it?).
They convinced you Elgin had the chance to win; cool, but what else? It was a great match, but 5/5 stars means CLASSIC! It's spose to mean Match of the Year candidate, and I don't think it's in the top three for this year even. The fans were super into it, but I think that's bc the second day of SITS was kinda weak: there were THREE roll-up victories, and they were in some of the most anticipated matches of the show (Steen v. Eddie, Cole v. O'Reilly, and the tag title match; plus, the quick pin the Bucks got over ANX). The TV title match even got a cheap end. There wasn't a single match that got the fans hype all night, and I think Meltzer didn't take that into consideration. I think the match was awesome in relation to the rest of that show, but that's bc day 2 was prolly the worst ROH iPPV they've ever done.Big Red Machine wrote:The 10h Anniversary Show main event did not get five stars from Meltzer (I'm not sure what it did get, but it wasn't five). I strongly disagree. I thought the match was absolutely awesome, and what I have seen so far of the show (haven't gotten the chance to watch Cole vs. O'Reilly, Fire Ant vs. TJP or Young Bucks vs. ANX yet) the show itself was awesome. The match had amazing nearfalls, told and awesome story about toughness and skill. Elgin showed me a lot of stuff I didn't know he had, such as good submission wrestling and countering skills, and Davey worked the ankle over throughout the match. I was so into this match that there were a few times that Davey or Elgin hit moves that weren't even finishers, but I was convinced it was over.badnewzxl wrote:They convinced you Elgin had the chance to win; cool, but what else?
