This whole season has been terrible. It's focusing more on Titus O'Neil then anything else. It's so bad that during it's run, this season has seen the release of two "Pros" in Chavo & Kozlov. Thats how much they don't care about NXT. It crapped out after season 2 finished.

they could never match season 1. It's gotten worse each season since.

This is true, they had the second season start off with plenty of potential but it just fizzled out. The finale of that season was just a bunch of head scratching. Riley & Watson beat on each other for no reason then they team with the other eliminated guys to take out Kaval. I dont recall them doing anything with that beating anyway.

At this point, they should just end NXT. It's become an internet show with lousy wrestling for the most part. Superstars is an internet show BUT it's got decent wrestling especially for the length of the show. Divas are actually given decent time in their matches AND mid card guys are given a chance to shine.
