The CM Punk Shoot Promo

Was it real or Fake? His Shoot on Cena, Rock, Vince, HBK, & whomever else on RAW 6 27 11 was EPIC. But... Was it real, scripted, or ad libbed & taken too far???

I think it was great. Originally I think it was scripted, but I think he put his heart into it, thus leading to words said that may have been a bit too much for the political scene of the WWE.

Definitely a work.

If they didn’t shut the mic off after he said the words “Hulk Hogan,” or “Ring of Honor”… this was a work. They cut the mic off at JUST the right time so that we now all want to know what it is that Punk was going to tell us about Vince.

I sincerely hope it was all worked. If it wasn't, Philip Jack Brooks has not only burned his bridge, but has effectively screwed over a number of people with his tasteless lack of professionalism.

I am inclined to side with BRM and his opinion.

Also, CM Punk doesn't strike me as the type to burn bridges or lack professionalism.
And if it is indeed a work, I think this is the first step towards something momentously grand.

I say its a work because of the mic thing. Why would they let him carry on? If they knew about it, they would wait until Punk was gonna say something big then cut him off. They need to let Punk break the 4th wall more often. By that i mean be the guy who doesnt pretend its WWE and thats it. His kayfabe character is the leader of a cult like group that is different from everyone else so he shouldnt be barred from using the term wrestling or wrestler.

He's the most real a character can be. He doesnt have huge comebacks like John Cena or Randy Orton, he doesnt have fire or lightening to add to his character. He just tells it like it is and works to the best of his ability like having an extensive training backround, scouting his opponents, being able to get in their heads with simple logic. Punk doesnt look like he's a weightlifter, he's a man who has honed his craft for years. He's got the ability to play a good guy and a bad guy while most can only do one really well, he can do both.

It was a work bc it happened in the WWE in 2011 and nobody stopped it for about five minutes. It was incredibly coherent, the camera work was well produced, and it fit WAAAAY too much in with kayfabe (i.e. Punk calling out the fans who were cheering him). And if he REALLY wanted to ruffle some feathers, he'd have said SOMETHING about TNA....

It was totally a work....ONE OF THE BEST OF ALL TIME! It's about time WWE promoted a talent who could say these things about the company and have it benefit both the performer AND the company. I bet the number of folks planning on buying MITB just quadrupled....

**Just saw this (SONIC might have seen it, too): worldstarhiphop.com has even posted video of Punk's promo! The only wrestling videos I've EVER seen posted on that site were the Rock's return promo and Cena's retort the week after. worldstarhiphop.com usually only deals with strictly urban culture like Rap, R&B, poetry, and urban humor. It always stands out to me when I see wrestling on there; it means that whatever it is it's HUGE.

CM PUNK! CM PUNK! CM PUNK!

Complete work. That being said however, I literally sat here and applauded him for dissing Laurinaitis.

The real question remains.

How in the blue hell is he getting away with it?

vince is a mastermind, he knows when to take hits and when to give them. He knows he can bargain saying some things on the air, i mean, he rather mention NJPW than TNA, and mentioning ROH is like allowing ECW to take part of RAW many years ago.

I agree with most. I think initially it was a work. But I think the whole Mc,ahon dying & his idiotic daughter may have been the ad lib gone too far. I doubt him bashing hogan, who works for the rival, would be of any significance, seeing as how the WWE doesn't acknowledge Hulk as their biggest star ever. And The Rock, who wouldn't mind taking heat from an up & coming legend. I think all of that was the work. Just the ending, which led to the shutup bucko...

And if you notice, when he talks & the camera shows the arena, you can see the ref in his headset point out trying to maybe get someone's attention as if he was being told to get someone to interrupt him. Idk. Strange.

Might I note... It's also odd punk has NOT tweeted since the incident. He is someone who generally tweets about 5-10 times a day. This could be indication of a work.

YES!!! I saw it too. My homeboy told me just go to world star... He was on there. I played Flocka to celebrate. I think because Punk made headlines SOOO quick. A lot of rappers & entertainers still keep up with the WWE, and were commenting on this. It was BIG.

Likely a worked shoot like Joey Styles did in 2006... if it was a 100% shoot he would have mentioned being trained by Ian Rotten & defending the WWE title in IWA-Midsouth... if it turns out it was a shoot look for him to be replaced in the title match at MITB... when something goes wrong in WWE it often gets fixed quickly no matter how close to a PPV or even during a PPV (look at the actual finish to the main event Hogan/Warrior v Slaughter/Adnan/Mustafa w/Sid as special ref v what was originally written, Warrior pinning Sarge)

I think the correct thing to say is that it was REAL, but with McMahon's approval. obviously around a kayfabe realm.

It was a partial shoot. They didnt know exactly what Punk was going to say, all they did was cut it off if they feel he went too far with stuff. The stuff about Laurinaitis and Trips was off the top of Punks head along with everything else. WWE should let people do this a bit more often. It gets people buzzing and im sure would boost ratings.

EXACTLY what I said :D ... I think once he said "Vince is dead," they started telling officials to cut his mic off. You see the whole time, the ref was constantly holding his ear as if he was listening to company officials bark orders or tell him when to signal for a mic cut.

No way Vince didn't know what he was gonna say.

The Awesome One wrote:It was a work.....a brilliantly played one. The suspension article is clearly plugging the PPV.
Raw’s abrupt conclusion Monday night was not due to technical difficulties. The decision to suddenly end the broadcast in that manner was made by WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon, who gave this quote to WWE.com:

“CM Punk was suspended indefinitely for his unprofessional conduct as soon as Raw went off the air.”

With his WWE contract expiring on July 17, one can only assume that this suspension effectively terminates CM Punk’s tenure with WWE.
^When has this ever been said when wrestlers get suspended? It sounds like a plug for the PPV to me..
You can now also watch the promo on wwe.com. Why would they show that if it was real? It disses the company, Vince, mentions Colt cabana, Ring of Honor....if it was real that promo will never be shown on the site.
This.

Regardless whether it was entirely worked or an OK-ed ad-lib, it did its job: Sold the upcoming show (to me, at least. $50 hopefully well spent).
