Welcome to the new, revolutionary series by WWR, called "Shootout." We aim to give you guys, the fans, a closer, in-depth look at our superstars, from when the show is over and when they continue with their daily life. Our first people to volunteer for this are WWR World Heavyweight Champion Vade Kruger, former WWR Continental Champion Chris Everlast, and rising star through the WWR ranks, Fergal Kiley.

Everlast:
Ha ha, one of us three is not like the others.

Kiley:
(Sarcastically) Ha ha. Need I remind you, you're right in my reach?

AJ:
Alright, let's get rolling. What made you three want to get involved in the world of professional wrestling?


Kruger:
Well it started in about '85 when my Dad sat me down one Saturday afternoon and inroduced me to British Professional Wrestling on World of Sport. I was pretty much jumping around straight away, it kinda progressed from there, but when I discovered WWF and NWA well, it went haywire. I thought I was The Ultimate Warrior!

Everlast:
I was always involved in wrestling, being a third-generation fan. My dad and granddad always talked about wrestling during my childhood so you know, I was never really away from it. It just came natural that I wanted to become closer to the wrestling sport. I watched guys like the Heartbreak Kid, the Hardy Brothers and I just knew that I wanted to do that.

Kiley:
Myself, much different. I was a total thug in my youth. There were often times that I wouldn't return home for weeks at a time. I'd never really heard much of pro wrestling until I'd wandered off to England with a girl and scalped my way to the front row of Summerslam '92. From that show on, I was captivated with wrestling.

Kruger:
Summerslam '92?? I remember the biggest ovation I have EVER heard at any wrestling show, when Davey Boy Smith pinned Bret Hart in the main event. Wow!

Everlast:
Hearing you say '92 makes me feel so old, Kiley.

Kiley:
Well, I'm older than you, aren't I?

Everlast:
Well, sure you are. Are you sure you're not too old for this biz? (looks over at Kiley with a taunting grin)

Kiley:
I'll get you for that...

Kruger:
Me too kid! (Smiles)

AJ:
(Aside) Can you feel the love? Anyways, WWR has long been the largest wrestling organization in the world. That fact aside, what made you guys want to work here?

Kiley:
That's actually most of it. The rest though is that here I'm not carrying around incontinent old farts who drowned themselves in a bottle of Night Train less than 5 minutes before, or kids so clumsy that they concuss me with a simple lariat. Everyone here has paid their dues and they're not a washed-up alcoholic has-been or a green health hazard.

Everlast:

Tit! Well, whatever. I'm here for almost the same reasons as Kirby. No idiots, no washups. Sure, there are giant twits like Kiley, but he's tolerable. Not in the ring ofcourse, having to carry him all the time gets tiring. Good god that I had help from T-Hawk at P2G. (Snorts snobbishly, lifting his nose up into the air with his arms folded across his chest.)

Everlast:

Kruger:
Ladies please! Hehe......I sorta fell into it as I was actuall in Australia at the time. See Id already done my time in BCW in the states, I was very much a travelling between local companies around the world kinda guy. But when the call came from WWR I couldnt really say no, especially as they offered me more than just a role in the ring.


AJ:
Where did you all get your starts? Who trained you, where did all make your debuts, who did you wrestle in your debuts?


Everlast:
Well, I've trained all over, really. I started in Mexico, in a small promotion called Mexican Demon Gate. I came there with Davis Hardy, we started around the same time I'd dare to say. I remember them giving us a tryout match, before the show even officially started, there was like 50 people there, they were still letting them in. And I love Davis, I really do, he's a great pal.. But he's got a stiff-right! He busted my lip open, and nearly gave me a concussion with a botched kneelift.

Kiley

Kruger:
HAHAHA!

Everlast:
Yeah, that way you could've been friendless backstage and I'd be in a much more pleasing position, like in hell.

Kiley:
Anywho, I started out training with the British Isles based Irish Whip Wrestling. I'd actually taken so well to the business that I managed to get my first match in a little over a year of training, against the now-infamous Hardcore Holly. He was stiff at first, but one flurry of overhand chops and a stiff forearm changed that. I got to powerbomb him into the turnbuckle and then piledrive him for the win.

Everlast:
Now I know where you learnt how to punch! Hardcore Holly, jeez.

Kiley:
Yep, those chops will sober you up, yeah?

Everlast:

Kiley:

I first started in my back yard, however my first wrestling 'lesson' came from a former Australian heavyweight champion by the name of 'Mike Dallas' who was a good friend of my Dad. I managed to spend some time in Wales at another organisation with the BCW initials, the small 'Bangor Championship Wrestling' company. Now up to this point I hadnt had any formal training, I had my first match in 1999 against a local guy called Bryn Marshall. I jobbed to him and was pretty well liked after that, probably due to the fact I broke my collarbone early on and continued to the end in serious pain. Took me four months to heal. I met Bret Hart a few months later in the states and he agreed to help train me a little.

AJ:
Any goals yet to be achieved that you guys would like to see happen for yourselves in 2011 and beyond?

Kruger:
Get new talent over as much as possible, we have to stay ahead of everyone else so building up the ray new talent is a great starting point. Also if I can stay healthy and keep my back injury at bay then Ill be more than happy.

Kiley:
A title would be nice, but I won't be picky. Just hope to better improve my people skills, cut my first WWR promo, and get a match rated 5 stars by Meltzer, although being an American promotion, is next to impossible.

Everlast:
You barely get 4 out of 10 on the Everlasting Perspective, why are you trying to get anything out of Meltzer?

Kiley:
That's self-depreciation, kiddo. We're going to be working for a while longer. Is that the kind of wishful thinking you want? (Brief pause) I didn't think so.

Everlast:

German aside, I'm looking forward for a year without much trouble backstage as there have been the first quarter of the year. It's fixed, but yeah, trust is like a mirror. You can f*ck it up and glue it together. But you'll still see the crack in it's reflection. I also look forward to spending some time home with Terasa and rest of my family.

Kiley:
Can't argue.

Kruger:
Yeah, like sometimes when times were tough last year Everlast here tried to perk everyone up but it wasn't always seen as humorous!


AJ:
I remember... Do you guys have any particularly close friends in the locker room here?

Everlast:
Well, Fergal and I are good friends, we know each other pretty well. I also like to think that Heather thinks I'm an acceptable person. K-Man over there is also a close friend of mine backstage. Otherwise we've got Tokyo Drift and Robert Randall aswell. Davis Hardy as I said earlier.. I try to keep most people on my good side.

Kiley:
Obviously, Everlast. We consider ourselves like brothers, and at times can be as obnoxious as such. Also, "Bossman" here, Kruger. Another guy who's had my back through thick and thin since I first joined. And I definitely must include my beautiful, understanding, and caring wife Heather Gilchrist, as well as her... eccentric (and flirty) "girlfriend" Allanah.

Everlast:
I swear Allanah spiked my drink once. I woke up naked, chained to a hotel door. I was never the same.

Kiley:

I hope Terasa never hears that.

Kruger:
I'm not sure I can top an answer like that. However these guys describe me.....I know I can be difficult to approach. I try and keep everyone happy but its pretty hard sometimes especially when your buddies' personalities clash. As for close friends, yeah the guys here are what Id consider to be close friends, Sassafras, Lynas and NNTK are guys are my other closest friends. We talk every day even when we aren't together, I consider them all to be brothers. Oh I almost forgot and hes gonna kick my a** for this, Viggo Dynamite!! My old buddy from Pierre, what a guy....a real friend. Even if he thinks he's Mr. Perfect! (smiles at the camera)

What were your initial thoughts on the BCW invasion?

Kiley:
Honestly, I kinda feared for my job for a while. I'd recently debuted at the time, and then I got all these other more established guys walking in ahead of me. I'd almost thought of joining in on the angle, but a few other people around here talked me out of it, saying that NNTK in particular wasn't the best guy for me to work with in my spot.

Everlast:
I was also kinda scared, because there was like all of a sudden tons of dudes with loads of talents rushing into high-profile matches. Kruger talked me out of my fears though and hey, it worked out in the end.

Kruger:
I figured it would be a little chaotic at first, but after the success of Meltdown I was well happy with the result.

AJ:
Alright. And what were your thoughts on the WWR/BCW split after the Meltdown PPV?

Everlast:
Initially I didn't really care, but there was something interesting about it after I watched the first show. The whole underdog feel it had compared to WWR. That's why there was something going on about my debut before it got closed.

Kiley:
I'd thought of jumping, but I felt that I'd had something good going here. Heather went and joined up because they'd signed about half a dozen of her indy circuit friends to that particular brand. As well as, with all due respect to the bosses, Vortex's women's division is deader than disco.

Everlast:
Disco is still alive, man.

Kiley:
In my mother's own words: "It's something that died ages ago and is never coming back." And thank god for that.

Everlast:

Kruger:
Didn't really like it, something that was out of my control....but you gotta try these things right?

AJ:
Is there anyone, for any of the three of you, who you haven't wrestled yet, but would like to?

Kiley:
Most definitely, Mr. Kruger. The man's a living legend back in the homelands, was an inspiration when I was still up and coming, and has ring psychology down to a pat. The only other one I can really think of is, if the opportunity can ever present itself, that new Norse lady, Ronja Martinsdottir. From what I hear, she hits like a train, she's open to almost anything if it makes the match better, and she's actually larger than me.

Everlast:
Kiley likes larger women. Surprised why he chose such a thin woman to bind with.

Kiley:
Pah! Allanah made you her bitch, in your own words. I'm sure Heather could break you in half, if you were even worth the trouble.

Everlast:
Well, she's not coming around for midsummer. Well, personally I've got no one new I really yearn to get into the ring with. Maybe Michael Mark Adams or Remmington-Smythe.. I haven't really scouted around that much.

Kiley:
That's right, I'm everything he's ever wanted. Zing!

Everlast:
He's right, I just wouldn't be me without big bad Kiley to hug during Christmas. True story.

Kruger:

Lastly, any thoughts on what could make the wrestling business, as a whole, better?

Everlast:
More freedom in the ring for wrestlers, and less creative control to seperate individuals in a nutshell.

Kiley:
As he said, in-ring freedom and no more "creative control" bulls**t. I'd also like to add to that, a lighter road schedule. We're on the road for about 300 days out of the year. Sure we're tough and in peak physical condition, but we're still human. When I powerbomb Everlast and he ends up with a bruise on his back, it hurts like any other bruise to anyone else. Or when he kicks me in the face and knocks a few teeth out, I bleed just like anyone else at home.

And I'd like to start a family soon too. Need more holidays.

Kiley:
That too, we've all got family. We're all someone's spouse, parent, child, whatever. And very damn few have my benefit of being married to a co-worker. But even still, traveling on the road with her is very impersonal, and still puts a lot of stress on our marriage.

Kruger:
See this is something that really interests me. I'm all for trying new things... ask Terasa Chris!! Haha, but no... I feel if we can bring back the atmosphere of the eighties and nineties to some of our modern day action then were onto a winning formula. If some of the wrestlers today took the time out to study the fifties and sixties then they might learn how to wrestle. I'm a huge Lou Thesz fan and consider him to be perhaps the greatest of all time, so to see some young guy come out of nowhere with the kind of skills he had way into his late sixties and seventies would be amazing! Bring back managers, proper managers like Bobby Heenan, Jimmy Hart, Lou Albano and Jim Cornette. That for me is the only way to save wrestling.
