A-KID vs. CHARLIE DEMPSEY- 7/10
As Dempsey was walking backstage, the cameraperson asked where Die Familie was. Dempsey said that he didn’t need them tonight. This match would be just him and A-Kid.
This was a wonderful technical wrestling match in which they were also able to add a component of a slugfest without it turning into a brawl. It was so good that when Rohan Raja interfered to set up the finish, I was upset at the heels for ruining the match, not at the promotion for booking a f*ck finish.
SID SCALA’S BIG ANNOUNCEMEN IS INTERRUPTED BY WOLFGANG- fine
The announcement is that a special guest from the US will be coming. Wolfgang says that he wants a chance to move up to the next level. Sid Scala gives him that opportunity by booking him against said special guest Roderick Strong. Wolfgang likes this.
ISLA DAWN WILL GET A TITLE SHOT IN TWO WEEKS- fine
STEVIE TURNER INTERRUPTS ALEAH GRACE’S INTERVIEW EARLIER THIS WEEK- bad
JOSH MORRILL & DANNY JONES vs. SYMBIOSIS (w/Eddie Dennis)- 5/10
Another good underdog showing for Jones and Morrill.
POST-MATCH SEGMENT- good
Wild Boar made his return, attacking Symbiosis with a chair. He cornered Eddie Dennis, but they were able to pull him to safety before Boar was able to make contact.
NINA SAMUELS BOTHERS EMILIA MCKENZIE ON THE NINA SAMUELS SHOW- fine
Millie was having none of her nonsense.
EARLIER THIS WEEK, ASHTON SMITH & OLIVER CARTER ACCUSE MOUSTACHE MOUNTAIN OF BACKING OUT OF THEIR PROMISE TO GIVE THEM A REMATCH- meh
They’re not wrong. Moustache Mountain propose that they should earn a tag title shot by winning two singles matches. Smith & Carter accept this. They really shouldn’t have to jump through this hoop. After they agreed to that scenario, they started a pointless and phony-feeling loud argument.
NXT HERITAGE CUP TITLE MATCH: Noam Dar(c) (w/Sha Samuels) vs. Joe Coffey (w/Mark Coffey)- 7.5/10
The story of this match was built around the interference. It’s a great example of how that kind of match can work every once in a while when you have an environment where it is normally absent.
A fine episode of NXT UK.
