WWE RELEASES TEN WRESTLERS: FANDANGO, TYLER BREEZE, TONY NESE
Source: https://www.f4wonline.com/wwe-news/wwe- ... ese-345176

The rumored WWE releases coming Friday turned out to be accurate as the company continued their recent paredown of the roster, focusing on both NXT and 205 Live talents.

The current list of cuts that keeps growing as the day goes on: Fandango, Tyler Breeze, Tony Nese, Ariya Daivari, August Grey, Ever-Rise (Chase Parker and Matt Martel), Curt Stallion and the Bollywood Boyz (Sunil and Samir Singh), Arturo Ruas, and Marina Shafir.

The 39-year-old Fandango (Curtis Hussey) had been with the company since 2006 when he signed a developmental deal and started with Deep South Wrestling. Wrestling as Johnny Curtis, he won the fourth season of NXT with R-Truth as his mentor but was only up on the main roster for a short period of time.

He developed the Fandango character and was called up to the main roster in 2013, eventually forming Breezango with Tyler Breeze in 2016. They eventually found their way back to NXT in 2019 and won the Tag Team titles -- his only gold in WWE over his 14-year run. He thanked Vince McMahon, Stephanie McMahon and Paul Levesque in a tweet.

Breeze had been in the system since 2010 and spent five years in FCW/NXT before being called up to the main roster, paired with Summer Rae in a feud with Dolph Ziggler. The 33-year-old had opened a Florida-based wrestling school with Shawn Spears in 2019.

The 35-year-old Nese started with WWE in 2016 as part of the cruiserweight division and held the Cruiserweight title in 2018-19. He was a 205 Live fixture with some NXT appearances sprinkled in. He did appear once on SmackDown in 2020, losing to Matt Riddle.

Similar to Nese, the 32-year-old Daivari was also a 205 Live and cruiserweight division fixture since starting in 2016. He never held a title during his five years. His brother, Shawn, was recently rehired in a producer role. He tweeted it was time to put sports entertainment behind him and get back to professional wrestling.

Parker and Martel (Jeff Parker and Matt Lee) signed in 2019. They had also been working in both NXT and 205 Live. After nearly two months off, they returned on this week's NXT in a losing effort to Hit Row (Ashante Adonis and Top Dolla).

Grey (Anthony Greene) signed with WWE in August 2020 and also worked both 205 Live and NXT. In a bit of irony, he will be on Friday's 205 Live in a match with Grayson Waller while the aforementioned Daivari will face Ikemen Jiro. Grey joked on Twitter that his match is now a loser-leaves-town affair.

Stallion was signed in October 2020 and also was featured on 205 Live. He had recently been cleared to return to action following a wrist injury.

The Singh brothers (Gurvinder Sihra and Harvinder Sihra) started in 2016 and were paired up with then-WWE Champion Jinder Mahal on the main roster in 2017. After nearly two years, they were back on 205 Live. They did each hold the 24/7 title in 2019.

A freestyle wrestling and Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace, Ruas (Adrian Jaoude) signed in 2015 and was in NXT for nearly his entire run, save an appearance on Raw Underground last year. He has been on the sidelines with an injured bicep and hasn't been in action since last November.

Shafir, a friend of Ronda Rousey and part of the Four Horsewomen group, signed in 2018 along with Jessamyn Duke. Similar to Ruas, she was in NXT for nearly the duration of her run but made her own Raw Underground appearance. She is married to current NXT roster member Roderick Strong.

WRITER KENICE MOBLEY RELEASED BY WWE

Writer Kenice Mobley has been released by WWE following comments made during a recent podcast appearance.

Fightful reported today that Mobley has been let go by WWE. She had joined the company as a writer this month.

After being hired by WWE but before starting in her role, Mobley appeared on the "Asian Not Asian" podcast earlier this month and discussed not being required to know anything about pro wrestling prior to being hired:

Yes, I have just been hired by WWE. Given the things that you know about me and my entire life and what I’m into, yes [that’s surprising]. Yes, also a surprise for me. They did not require me to know anything about wrestling, but I do have a background in film production and comedy writing and they’re like, ‘Perfect. Come on in.’

Mobley also spoke about being on the Raw writing team and said she wasn't certain of WWE Champion Bobby Lashley's name:

So I am on the Monday Night Raw team. So there’s Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown and the people I know that are on it are Bobby -- his name is either Bobby Ashley or Bobby Lashley and I really should know that. He’s like this giant Black guy and he and the people who are part of his crew, I know that they call -- or at least as of last year, they called themselves The Hurt Business. The Hurt Business. They wear suits and they’re like, ‘We're cool.’

Dave Meltzer reported on the situation with Mobley in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter:

This turned into a fairly big thing, heavily talked about on social media but also noted among those on the inside. Mobley was also under the gun for speaking publicly on subjects that WWE doesn’t want stuff talked about. One person very close to the situation noted the negative reaction to this and said that she is not the only one in this situation, and actually this is typical of many of the writers. But where they were embarrassed by this is that by going public, it makes WWE to the outside world look 'blindingly stupid.'

Mobley co-hosts the "Love About Town" podcast. She made an appearance on "The Tonight Show" with Jimmy Fallon earlier this year and did stand-up comedy on the show.

That Kenice Mobley story could end up being a big deal, she clearly just got fired for what she said on that podcast.

It seems to me like the bigger deal is whatever she was publicly talking about that WWE didn't want her to talk about.

But yeah, it makes them look amazingly stupid for hiring her when she doesn't know sh*t about wrestling. She didn't do herself any favors going out and broadcasting that fact, though, especially not in the specific way she did. For every job I interviewed for, I did research on the organization first, even if the said I didn't need to.

There's some damn good talent out there in this group, too. Breeze, Grey, Stallion, Nese, and Jaoude in particular. Daivari is also solid.

The only ones that I'm particularly interested is 3.0, the rest I wouldn't mind if they get rehired as NXT General Managers

I feel like the hiring spree we saw last year with AEW and WWE is going to have a big repercussion now with so many firings, AEW, ROH, and Impact can't really bring in many more people and i don't know how many of the indies can take some of these wrestlers, because they're not gonna come cheap just because they're going to sell themselves as "ex-wwe".

The market will figure itself out again, both with this and with coming out of COVID.

The "ex-WWE" marketing is generally a mistake, except for certain promoters who are the kind of people who just do sold shows at minor league baseball stadiums or casinos that we rarely hear about

AEW has the move to bring people in, but they shouldn't unless it's someone they have real plans for.

With ROH... they really do need a shot in the arm, but it has to be the right one. ROH was drawing fine pre-pandemic. What they need is someone who will bring buzz (although I think the real problem there is Creative. They have guys who can bring buzz if you use them right). Stallion is probably a good fit for them. Jaoude, too, if Delirious can use him well.
