wXw We Love Wrestling #9 (4/23/2021)- Oberhausen, Germany

ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS EZEL & RAMBO- fine
Rambo is apparently another friend of their family, so he is helping them now.

JOHNNY EVERS (w/The Rotation) vs. AYTAC (w/Abdul & Rambo)- 4.5/10
Aytac worked over Evers’ arm but Evers overcame it and got the win. Everyone in this company is fundamentally sound. I just wish they’d give the matches more time.

ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS JOHNNY EVERS- fine

ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS TRISTAN ARCHER- bad
This went on WAY too long for someone whose English is not very good. Archer is disappointed that Emil Sitoci faked an injury to beat him at Dead End and wants a rematch. He thinks Emil has changed. He then talked about his match with Paris tonight and tried to draw a contrast between himself and Sitoci with himself as a veteran who is helpful to the young guys, but it didn’t come out well.

TRISTAN ARCHER vs. PARIS BALLIS- 2/10
Archer won clean in four minutes. He checked on Paris after the match and showed him respect.

MARIUS AL-ANI SIT-DOWN INTERVIEW- fine

SENZA VOLTO vs. FAST TIME MOODO- 7.75/10
Now that’s what I’m taking about! Two up-and-coming babyfaces getting almost twenty minutes to battle it out in an intense but clan wrestling match! Moodo tried to ground the high-flyer by working over his leg. It was an interesting change of styles to see Moodo- who is normally a striker- do quite a bit of grappling.

ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS SENZA VOLTO- good

ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS AIGLE BLANC- good
He wants to avenge getting pinned by Maggot in the tag title tournament.

AIGLE BLANC vs. MAGGOT (w/Baby Allison & Vincent Heisenberg)- 5.5/10
Maggot jumped the bell on Aigle Blanc and looked a lot more vicious than he did when teaming with Prince Ahura. These two had a good match for the six and a half minutes they got. Maggot won by count-out when Baby Allison was able to pull Aigle Blanc’s mask off and he took the count-out loss to preserve his identity.

MARIUS AL-ANI ASKS A STUDENT TO POLISH HIS TROPHY- That’s not a euphemism. He wants his World Catch Grand Prix trophy so shiny he can see his reflection in it. The student sets to work, wanting to suck up t the veteran, and Marius leaves. Senza Volto hobbled over and asked the student if he had seen the Baby Allison/Maggot/Heisenberg group. He said he hadn’t. This is clearly setting something up, but it was odd. Also, the reason we were given for why we could see this was that the cameraman was “testing the focus.” That’s a stretch to show us footage where nothing clearly important at the time happens.

ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS DENNIS ZINNER- meh

wXw SHOTGUN TITLE MATCH: Norman Harras(c) vs. Dennis Zinner- 3.75/10
Harris won a short match cleanly. That “cleanly” part was a pleasant surprise.

ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS NORMAN HARRAS- fine
He brags about his win, then building up his title defense next week, which will be against Michael Knight.

BOBBY GUNNS INTERVIEW- great build for his title shot next week

ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS TIM STUBING & LEON VAN GASTEREN- decent
Veteran Leon counsels young Tim to keep calm, but Tim doesn’t seem to be listening. Leon also wimps out of choosing a winner for next week’s world title match.

ANDY JACKSON INTERVIEWS ANIL MARIK & AVALANCHE- fine
LEON VAN GASTEREN & TIM STUBING vs. TEAM wXw Wrestling Academy (Anil Marik & “the Avalanche” Robert Dreissker)- 6.75/10
Avalanche and Marik pick up a nice clean win in the battle of teacher-student teams. Lots of respect all around after the match.

This was a better episode of We Love Wrestling than usual. We got one really long, great match, and pretty much everything that happened felt like it was building to something worthwhile. Hopefully next week’s big world title main event delivers.
