Two more names are out of Impact Wrestling.

Ed Nordholm, President of Impact Wrestling, released a statement to Wrestling Inc. confirming that Abyss and Sonjay Dutt, who are currently working as producers and occasional talent have been released, with Konnan and Tommy Dreamer being added to Impact’s creative team in their place.

“We reached an amicable agreement with Sonjay and Abyss to allow them to pursue this opportunity,” the statement says. “They have been tremendous contributors to IMPACT Wrestling and we wish them every success. We are thrilled that Konnan and Tommy Dreamer have agreed to bring their 50+ years of experience to our core creative team.”

PWInsider first reported the story this afternoon. It is believed that both men are headed to WWE. It isn't known what their roles will be within the company.

Abyss has been with the company since 2002, appearing on the very first NWA-TNA show under the name Justice. He was inducted into Impact’s Hall of Fame last year during Bound for Glory weekend.

Sonjay Dutt has also been associated with the company for years, first starting in 2003. He most recently returned in 2017 when Jeff Jarrett gained back power, joining the promotion as a producer.

Discuss.

I might be a bit biased in this regard as his nephew has been dating my cousin for the past few years (having met Abyss' shoot sister, I can confirm that Grandma Jenny believably looks like a member of the family), but if he's making more money, I'm happy for him. The guy has been destroying himself for so long he deserves a real break.

Also, now they have someone who can work at the Performance Center teaching heel monsters the right way to growl viciously in the background while the manager cuts a promo.

Also, losing the only remaining person who has been in the company since day one feels like it's significant in some way.

they're going there to do backstage work. I can't imagine they need more tho, feels like the staff roster is as crowded as the talent roster. Like Red said, Strowman or Lars, trained by Abyss could be awesome

About 10 years ago, WWE offered Abyss a WM match vs Taker and he turned it down, maybe now it's the time.

I'm kinda interested/excited to see what Konnan does, he had a lot of input for LU when LU was great, so we'll see

It's definitely 10 years too late for this.

Spontaneous crazy idea:

Let's become wrestlers: We can be "Red Killing Machines" (Sorry, but I'm pretty sure "Brm" is already taken.) You be the dastardly slim guy who's very annoying and I'll just silently destroy everything while being full of tattoos and muscles and a beard.

You do know that KillDozer is already taken, too, right?

You actually are (nothing wrong with that).

I didn't know Brian Lee used it! As the internet tends to do, the legend of The Killdozer made it's way into my daily browsing a few years ago and because of HERE (or "him" if you will) I followed up. It's a really interesting story/piece of modern history, and a really cool name, I figured he named himself after it...

I was wrong-He used it during ECW as Raven's hired bodyguard for The Flock.

Saw it after hours of jumping around on the old Obsessed With Wrestling wrestler database YEARS AGO and decided that was it lol.

I friggin loved Brian Lee. Since Fake Undertaker I was always pulling for him. It bummed me out that WWE didn't push him after his run with DOA, dude worked his ass off every match...

Dave says that Konnan is headed to Impact, and that he and Dreamer and both going to be part of Creative.

yeap, i think i mentioned it earlier. I'm interested to see what Konnan brings to the table, he helped booked season 1 and 2 of Lucha Underground, and those were the best ones, so we'll see how it goes. Dreamer I THINK is only going to be doing production, not sure if creative too.

While on the one hand the last few months of TNN and Hardcore TV might not be the most fair thing to judge Dreamer on, that's really the only stuff of his we have without Heyman, Lance, or Raven also having input (and from what Lance and I think Raven as well has said, Dreamer tended to lose most of his arguments to those to... and if you're arguing with Lance Storm on booking, you're probably wrong).
