On the latest episode of his podcast, Jerry Lawler revealed that he's re-signed with WWE.

Lawler noted on Monday's episode of "Dinner with the King" that he's signed a two-year contract with WWE. Lawler said his deal with WWE comes up on January 10 every year, and he texted Kevin Dunn a reminder about it on January 8. Lawler said he was offered a two-year deal with a raise the next day.

Lawler also said he's going to be on commentary for this year's men's Royal Rumble match. Lawler said it sounds like it will be him, Michael Cole, and JBL calling the match. Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona is hosting the pay-per-view on January 27.

With this Monday's Raw taking place at the FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee, Lawler made a brief appearance on the episode. He was shown coming out of Vince McMahon's office during a backstage segment where wrestlers were waiting outside the door to meet with McMahon about wanting to challenge for Brock Lesnar's Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble. The segment ended with Lawler looking bewildered as No Way Jose's conga line went by him.

A horrible, terrible thought just occurred to me:
I they are putting together an all-male commentary team for the men's Royal Rumble, then they'll likely have an all-female team for the women's Royal Rumble... and given the talent available to WWE and the way WWE trains and produces their announcers, that does not seem promising. Granted, Renee will likely be more tolerable when she and Cole aren't just repeating each other over and over, but still... I'm not hopeful. Maybe I'll be wrong and they'll bring in Veda Scott or someone like that, but I doubt it. We're probably going to wind up with Renee, Steph, & Beth, and it's not going to be good at all. In fact, it will likely be just as intolerable as the men's commentary team. Hooray for the Divas'/Women's R/Evolution! WWE has eliminated gender in equality in the field of crappy announcing.

If that's the case, I think AEW dodged a bullet. Lawler is pretty high up on the short list of people that do better with the "McMahon Filter"

And Ross... really isn't that good anymore. He's too preachy.

Both JR and King were better under Vince. I actually think JR talks too much when calling other shows.

BUT, nobody needs either of them. They’ve had their day and there are 20 better announcers out there.
