Global Force Wrestling has suspended Alberto El Patron until the investigation into him for domestic battery is resolved.

The company issued a statement today: "Global Force Wrestling has indefinitely suspended Alberto El Patron, effective immediately, until the investigation is resolved following a recent incident in Orlando, Florida."

Prior to suspending him, GFW had noted that they were taking the incident seriously and that they would fully investigate it and cooperate with law enforcement.

El Patron was detained at the Orlando International Airport on Sunday following what one witness referred to as "an altercation" between him and Paige. TMZ then released audio of the incident, confirming that it was between El Patron and Paige after Paige had tweeted that they were the ones to get police involved after a fan threw a drink into El Patron's face.

In posts on Facebook, Paige's brothers both alleged that El Patron has physically abused their sister.

El Patron defeated Bobby Lashley at Slammiversary to become GFW's Unified Champion. He was one of the focal points of the post-PPV television tapings, but the company hasn't indicated whether those will air as intended.

if everything works out legally for him, this is just straight heat for his fully heel return

I just realized, he's suspended while I already assume the tapings are over, so he's not really doing anything anyway. Jarrett already confirmed that he's not getting edited out, so GFW looks like they did something while it doesn't hurt the product that much. All assuming the legal problems don't escalate

Even if the legal problems do escalate, I find it hard to really blame them for putting the belt on him. Yes, he has a temper, but domestic abuse is a different level, and to my knowledge no one had ever reported him for such a thing before.

I don't think he really ever got much negative press at all until this whole page thing started.

He was getting into fights in Mexico and (I think) the UK. At least one of them was related to someone supposedly saying something about Paige and another one was supposedly about someone saying something about his brother.

it all really started with Paige. He has had a history of getting in fights (i remember one where he and Drew Galloway fought some guys at a bar), but the whole missing shows, drunken shit, and this all came after Paige.

It's almost like they just somehow brought each other down... Paige with the suspensions after the fact.
