-- Global Force Wrestling will officially announce the return of the Super X Cup as part of tonight's Impact taping, PWInsider.com has confirmed.

Former Ring of Honor star ACH is backstage and will be part of the tournament.

Texas talent Sammy Guevara, who recently worked for EVOLVE is also in the tournament as well, as are Pro Wrestling NOAH's Taiji Ishimora and AAA's Drago.

Also of note is that Octagoncito is backstage at the taping.

-- Instagram personalities and bodybuilders the "Swole Mates", Andy Velchich and Freddy "Partyboy" Hardy are backstage at today's GFW Impact taping.

While there is no official word on what they are doing on the taping yet, the pair are slated to have a special on Pop TV on Thursday 7/20. It makes sense that they are at the taping to film appearances that would promote the special, which would be airing after that evening's broadcast of Impact Wrestling.\

yeap, at least I always thought he was doing good in NOAH, maybe this is how he returns. The surprising thing is that ACH is a guy that i've been expecting in WWE forEVER, I guess that may be done

This LU situation is getting interesting.

As for the Super X Cup: no one has cared about this dumb old gimmick in the past so why will they now? They're just doing 2004 TNA all over again, but without the talent.

hard to 'care' when they haven't done one in 12 yrs, the last X cup was in 2005. it's an awesome concept. last World Cups failed because they didn't bring people in from outside promotions, now they have the relations to do so again.

They always used to bring in outsiders. The reason it failed was because they never made it mean sh*t, so by the third time they did it everyone knew it was just a thing being done to waste several months of TV Time in the X-Division. The last one might have been a decade ago, but it's the same goofballs running the show.

Not as many outsiders since the one with the Dragon Gate and CMLL guys, it's been a while. What more does it need to mean? Tons of good unique wrestling on a weekly basis and the winner gets a cup, representing their promotion. What else do fans need?

Tangible consequences. Like a title shot. Promotional pride doesn't work as an emotional draw for most fans unless there's an interpromotional angle going on. It's the difference between CZW bringing a bunch of guys they wouldn't normally use for Best of the Best, and the ROH guys coming and saying they're going to dominate Best of the Best to embarrass CZW and the CZW guys standing up for the honor of CZW.
