On the heels of the best Raw rating in over two months, SmackDown followed suit this week with its best number since April 18th. The show averaged 2.597 million viewers on Tuesday night, up over 25 percent from last week.

As it does most weeks, SmackDown retained between 80 and 85 percent of the Raw audience from the night before, so that could be the reason for the increase. The episode also featured the return of general manager Daniel Bryan after taking some time off to be with his wife and newborn daughter.

There was also some intrigue surrounding the finish of the women's Money in the Bank ladder match after Sunday's pay-per-view and Bryan had promised on Twitter to address the issue on the show.

After not finishing in the top 10 the last few weeks, SmackDown was up to fourth for the night on cable in terms of total viewers. The show also was back to first in the 18-49 demo with a 0.85 rating.

In year-over-year comparisons, SmackDown was up 21 percent from last year's show which aired via tape delay on Thursday night. That episode did a 0.67 in the 18-49 demo, so it was up 27 percent year-over-year. The comparisons to 2016 numbers will become more relevant in about a month when they can be compared to shows after last July's brand split.

as Meltzer said, all these people that took off from WWE and just came back, they completely missed the last months of terrible segments and Bayley and Wyatt and Ambrose bullshit.

So that's good news for Bayley and Ambrose, right?

yeah, in a weird way, WWE was protected and people are now coming in to a WWE that looks different, but not necessarily bad

This isn't good. Because the last episode of SD was just awful.

They had a good chance to make history at the MITB PPV and instead theyve ruined it andits just going to be on SD live instead.

They just decided to go with the heel route and piss people off, and it's definitely worked, so hey.

Yeah but they completely f*cked everyone who bought the PPV, made Carmella look like an idiot for not cashing in when she had the chance, and, you know, all of the other things I said in my review.

True, but if nothing else I see the idea thru went with. I don't deny any of that. That's just like any cash in tease. Why wouldn't you just become champion at the immediate opportunity?

"Oh nope, fooled you, ahahaha!"
