One of professional wrestling's fastest rising stars will soon be making his debut for Ring of Honor.

At the end of a video update hosted by Kevin Kelly, it was revealed that Will Ospreay will debut for ROH on their tour of the United Kingdom later this year.

There was speculation that Ospreay would be exclusive to EVOLVE in the United States after Paul Heyman presented Ospreay with an EVOLVE contract on behalf of Gabe Sapolsky during Heyman's speaking series in the U.K. last month, but Dave Meltzer reported that nothing had been officially signed.

Ospreay is under contract with New Japan Pro Wrestling, and their relationship with ROH would seem to make them a natural fit for his U.S. home, but whether Ospreay will compete stateside for ROH remains to be seen.

Meltzer reported in the August 8th edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Ospreay was still in talks with both EVOLVE and ROH.

ROH will have three shows in the U.K. in November as part of their "Reach for the Sky" tour. The tour includes stops in Liverpool on November 18th, Leicester on November 19th, and London on November 20th.

Actually... the fact that he has signed to appear on the UK shows rather than any of the thirteen shows before that makes me suspect that he has. The EVOLVE deal was US-exclusive, wasn't it?

indeed, but it could still point to Ospreay working more ROH. I mean, i would debut him in the UK anyway just for the hometown fanbase. I guess we'll see. I just feel there's more things i wanna see Ospreay do vs ROH than Evolve, most of the evolve guys i've already seen anyway.

If it were someone like Pete Dunne who is very talented but only known in the UK I'd agree with you. Even with Marty Scurll 'd agree with you. But this is the hottest wrestler in the business right now. I'd want him on TV and live events as soon as possible. Certainly soon enough to build him up at least a marginal degree for All-Star Extravaganza (which is 9/30).

Well... this New Japan relationship is paying off in unexpected ways.

Even though it's 100% not the case, it kind of feels like there is a Cold War going on between WWE and NJPW, with EVOLVE and ROH as the proxies.
